Sheepskin slippers with her own hands

Sheepskin slippers are very popular for many years. And this is not surprising: this kind of shoes for the house provides warmth, dryness and comfort of the feet regardless of air temperature and flooring.

Why exactly from sheepskin?

Sheep wool is a unique natural material, which, thanks to its properties, is widely used by man. The fibers of sheep's wool have a lot of air cavities, which allows them to keep the temperature. Also, this material is able to absorb a large amount of moisture, while remaining absolutely dry.

In the production of footwear, sheep wool is also deservedly popular: it is used as insoles, internal trim of winter footwear, and slippers made of sheepskin are also made from it, domestic and street.

Sheep wool, thanks to its natural properties, keeps the temperature of the body of the legs of a person that does not allow them to freeze or overheat. Absorbing excess moisture, the fibers of the wool hold the legs in a dry heat, and this has a positive effect on the circulation and health of the legs.

House slippers made of sheepskin are not only warm and comfortable, but also beautiful, so they should be in every home.

Models of home slippers

Modern manufacturers can offer models of home shoes for any, even the most demanding taste. They differ in color, finish and the model itself. The most popular ones will be discussed below:

  1. Chuni, or high house slippers. Sheepskin tracks are home slippers. They are made entirely of natural materials and reach the ankles in height.
  2. House slippers with a back. Very convenient option of woolen home shoes. They evenly warm up the whole leg and do not fall off their feet while doing household chores.
  3. Slippers without a back. Suitable for those who like to quickly dip their feet into the heat and do not pull on the backs. Homemade slippers made of sheepskin without a backdrop are often popular with elderly women, who sometimes find it hard to put on a chunky or high slippers with a back on their own.

Options for finishing the top of the slippers presented on the market a lot, taking into account the gender and age of their carriers.

Men's slippers from sheepskin are usually more conservative: they have quiet colors and there is no finish. For women and children are offered more diverse options: with pompoms, bows, fur trim and a variety of colors.

Manufacturers of home shoes offer a wide choice for every taste. But you can show ingenuity and make slippers from sheepskin homemade, with your own hands.

We sew slippers-boots independently

Before you start making shoes for home use, you need to prepare the fabric and make a pattern of the product for an individual size. Simple way of sewing:

  • Preparation. For the pattern, you will need cardboard, a pencil or marker, a cloth-based lambskin, leather or leatherette (for soles), scissors, a needle with a large eye, a thick thread and a tape centimeter.
  • Pattern on paper. We measure the length and width of the foot. Determine the height of boots and take measurements. We transfer the obtained data to a dense sheet of cardboard.

  • Pattern on the fabric. We transfer the drawing to the material, while adding 1 centimeter to the seams (as indicated in the figure above). When applying a pattern on the fabric, you need to take into account that the fur part should be obtained from the inside of the slippers.
  • We make workpieces. Cut out carefully all the details of the boots. For the manufacture of soles, you need to take leather or artificial leather. As a rule, slippers do not have a right-left split. If there was a need to make such a separation, it is necessary in the process of cutting a little to increase the protrusion near the thumbs on each shoe.
  • Stapling parts. The final stage is the assembly of all parts and their stitching. You can use a sewing machine for this. But if the fabric is very dense, it is best to sew by hand, using a decorative seam.

Slippers from sheepskin homemade will sit tightly on the foot, if you add lacing to the ankle. Some needlewomen supplement products with various ornaments, which makes them not only warm, but also very attractive.

Slippers for children

Each mother cares about the health of her baby and in this regard, slippers from sheepskin will become an indispensable attribute. Baby chunks make it simple. The scheme for creating a pattern and making slippers is the same as for adults. The only difficulty that a woman may encounter is to circle her baby's feet.

Particular attention in this case should be given to decorating the product. Slippers can be decorated with various applications, bows or pompons.

Technique for making a pompon:

  1. Prepare the template. On the cardboard we draw a circle of the same size as the pompomchik. In the center we draw a small circle, the diameter of which depends on the splendor of the finished product. The larger the inner circle, the higher the pompon density.
  2. To produce 1 pompon, you need 2 template blanks (identical to each other). The patterns are joined together and the thread is wound on them. Cut at the outer edge of the workpiece.
  3. Between two cardboard circles thread the thread and tie it to a knot. Patterns are removed, and the resulting pompom is fluffed and equalized.

Features of wearing

There is a common opinion that slippers made of sheepskin should be worn only in severe frosts. This is not true. They are also suitable for wearing in the summer. This is especially true for people who have a cold floor covering in the house - tile, porcelain tiles. Such materials remain cold even at high air temperatures, and hypothermia of feet is fraught with negative health consequences.

Natural sheep wool will remove excess moisture from the feet and will be able to maintain the optimum temperature.

In the cold season, slippers made of sheepskin are literally irreplaceable. In them, the legs quickly warm up, and instantly a feeling of coziness and warmth is created.

Sheepskin slippers are well worn: with accurate wearing and proper care, they can last more than one year.

How to care?

Natural wool, which is the basis of domestic slippers, requires careful treatment:

  • Slippers should be about once in 2-3 months to ventilate. This is necessary for the hair to straighten and "breathe".
  • You can wash your home shoes, but do not use a washing machine for this.
  • Do not wash the product of wool in hot water, and also use an aggressive detergent for this.
  • For washing, water of room temperature and the means intended for washing delicate and wool products are best suited.
  • To get rid of the dirt most carefully, it is best to soak the slippers in water with a detergent for several hours. After this, a little stretch, you can use a sponge to rinse out.
  • Keep slippers from the wool need to away from open heat sources (stove, fireplace, battery). If they are not used for a long time, then you need to use a canvas bag for storage.
