Pipidastra are brushes for brushing dust. And what did you think about?

Each of us at least once in my life heard funny, and sometimes even ridiculous words, the meaning of which was less amusing or unexpected. One of these is Pipidastra. Do not say that it was used daily by native speakers of the Russian language, because most of them do not even know the meaning of this word, what can we say about belonging.

The true meaning of the word "Pipidastra"

Until recently, it was believed that there is no such term at all and it was invented by fans of "ridiculous" Internet memes. In Russian sources, this word is really not right, because it came to us from the English language. Pipidastra are fluffy multicolored brushes for brushing dust. Agree, we repeatedly saw this device on TV, in stores and on the Internet, but did not know its name. This panicle is not called a pompon, because in addition to the presence of villi nothing related pompon and pipidaster.

Emphasis

The stress is put on the third syllable - pipida'str, because the first two syllables symbolize a prefix "PP", and the second part is quite an independent word, which translates as a rag, anther.

Etymology

Until now, lovers of understanding the intricate stories can not say exactly where the word "pipidastr" came from. According to one of the most common versions, it is a Russian duplicate of the name of the company of the first manufacturer PP Duster. Perhaps this is not even the name of the producing organization, it is likely that this is the usual reduction from any longer denomination. According to other conjectures with the word duster, it is more and more understandable, the so-called firm for producing electric brushes for dust is called , but with the first part of the name everything is much more complicated. Perhaps, she went from the English "peppy", which translates as charged with energy, fast. The heroine of the children's fairy tale Pippi Long Stockings immediately comes to mind, but again all this is too doubtful, namely the use of the female name as the name for the brush. At least, the proof of this version is a more or less interpreted translation, that is, a "quick brush". Many foreigners confirm the presence of "peppy dastra" in their vocabulary, it is often used by cleaners or housewives, but nevertheless it is impossible to say exactly the origin of the word. According to the third guess, Pipidastra is a puppy duster, with what puppies are here - is still unclear. Perhaps, brushes are as fluffy and restless as puppy. It is still unknown who invented the pipidaster, and therefore it is difficult to judge the reason for such a strange name.

The only thing you can say for sure, judging by all these versions, is the rapid, vigorous and fluffy, some kind of electric broom. If we proceed from this definition, then this piquant title is fully justified.

Wrong opinion

Pipidastra are the pompons with which cheerleaders are waving their speeches. It is not true! On the Internet there was a lot of jokes about the fact that the support group is acting with nothing else than with pipidastra. It's strange, but this view has become riddled and it is now difficult to knock out the users who care for all the jokes. This misconception did not appear in an empty place, since the pompoms for the cheerleading performance are called Pom Pom (from this word, by the way, the word "pompon" has gone), and the resemblance to the whisker gave them the second name duster, if you combine the first and second notation, then It turns out that PP Duster, that the Russian person will read as "pipidastr".

The word pipidastra is funny enough for us, what kind of associations does not arise when it is pronounced. But now you need to use it correctly. Pipidastra are fluffy multicolored brushes for cleaning, and not some offensive curse.
