Settings of Rostelecom. Connecting and setting up equipment

Internet provider "Rostelecom" refers to the oldest telephone operators and providers in the territory of the Russian Federation. The list of services provided to them is quite large. This is not only the implementation of the Internet connection, but also interactive television, telephony. In addition, this operator also produces its own equipment. Because there is nothing surprising in that many users are interested in how to set up "Rostelecom" equipment.

Rostelecom routers

It is clear that the company itself does not have its own factories, which would be engaged in the release of routers. In fact, everything is done simply: a batch of equipment is purchased from Chinese manufacturers - such as Huawei, D-Link, ZTE, etc. - and the company's logo is pasted. This is a common practice that is conducted all over the world.

Currently, the following router models are most common:

  • Sagemcom f @ st 2804;

  • Sagemcom f @ st 3804;

  • D-Link DIR-300;

  • D-Link DVG-5402SP;

  • QTech RT-A1W4L1USBn;

  • ADSL-router Startnet AR800;

  • D-Link DSL-2640U T3;

  • WiFi-router Sagemcom f @ st 1744.

As can be seen, a wide variety of models is observed. And so the settings of "Rostelecom" equipment can cause difficulties for the beginner. But they are similar in many respects, so that when you understand how one model of a router or modem is configured, you can learn how to work with other types of equipment.

Basic settings of the D-Link router

Equipment D-Link is very much loved by operators in the Russian market. Rostelecom also became the exception. The configuration of D-Link (routers) usually runs quite smoothly and does not require any specialized knowledge from the user.

After connecting the router you will need to start any browser and in the address bar type: 192.168.0.1. The router setup window opens. Here as a password and login you will need to enter a bunch: admin and admin.

The newcomer can fully take advantage of the "Setup Wizard", which in semi-automatic mode will provide all the necessary settings for Rostelecom and other operators.

Advanced settings for the D-Link router

The settings menu is called in the same way as it was mentioned above, via any Internet browser. Next, click on the Click'n'Connect tab and connect the cable from the provider.

After clicking on the "Next" button it will be necessary to specify the type of connection used. If there is any doubt as to which type to specify, you need to clarify this information from the provider.

In the next step, you should give the name of the connection and come up with your own password and login for the login. If the password and login was issued by Rostelecom itself, then you do not need to invent anything, you just need to enter them.

It is possible that they will additionally be asked to enter VPN, DNS and other data, which they also issue when signing a contract with Rostelecom. Connection of the test node will begin immediately after clicking on the "Apply" softkey.

Set up Wi-Fi. Rostelecom, D-Link

Once the wired Internet is successfully connected, you can proceed with Wi-Fi setup. Here everything is quite simple. You only need to think up a name for the connection (the SSID text field) and your own password (in the "PSK encryption key" field) so that no one can "get out" to the network from the outside.

At this setting, WiFi "Rostelecom" will be completed on this router.

Setting up digital TV on D-Link equipment

Rostelecom provides services on digital television. Here, the way that is used for connection is also important, - IPTV or VLAN.

In the first case, all you need is to specify the IPTV port. In the second, it takes a little trick. The situation is further aggravated by the fact that the D-Link configuration interface is built in such a way that after setting up an Internet connection in general, the IPTV setting of Rostelecom is no longer possible. Therefore, we should start with the adjustment of television. If the telepacket was not purchased, then this kind of configuration can be easily skipped.

So, if Internet TV works via VLAN, then you need to select the "Advanced" area in the main menu, then click on the VLAN link. You will be asked to specify the specific port that is used by the set-top box. In most cases this is Port-4. You need to click on "Delete Port" and then on "Save Changes".

There are two options:

  • IPTV comes in an unaggressive form. In this case, you will need to select the WAN item, then in the Port section, specify Port-4, and set the value of the tag to untagged. This achieves the result that the provider's cable is connected directly to the set-top box, and not to the router.

  • If the IPTV is organized in a tagged form, the IPTV configuration of Rostelecom will require the transition to the items: "Additionally - VLAN - Add". In the name field, you can write anything, type "transparent" in the "Type" field, then select Port-4 and set the untagged mode.

Setting up PPPoE "Rostelecom"

While in the main settings menu, you need to select the "Network" section, and then go to the WAN link and click the "Connect" button. Advanced PPPoE settings will be displayed.

Accordingly, in the "Connection Type" field, set the PPPoE parameter, specify the fifth WAN port. Login and password are entered by those that were issued by Rostelecom itself. Done, you can enter the Internet.

As you can see, the settings of "Rostelecom" when connecting to PPPoE are also quite simple, they can even be performed by a novice user.

Setting up a DSL modem "Rostelecom"

In some branches of "Rostelecom" DSL-routers and modems are issued. You can consider the connection and configuration rules using the D-LINK DSL-2640U as an example. For many other models, the order of actions will be similar, only there can be some difference in the external interface of the settings window.

First, you need to connect the device itself to the Internet with a provider cable. Then open any web browser and type in the address bar: 192.168.1.1. Then, in the dialog box, enter the admin link in the login and password fields and admin again.

The main settings window opens. Here you need to select the "Network" section and the "Connection" subsection, add a new connection and select PPPoE as the type. Completing the VPI and PCI values, you need to specify in advance which parameters should be specified for the region.

PP-username and password are filled in according to the data provided by Rostelecom.

Keep Alive function must be turned on. The values of the LCP-interval and LCP-failure can be set at your discretion. The last parameter specifies how many times the modem will send the modem to the provider for the connection, and the first one - what time it will take to send the request in seconds.

Also, check the IGMP and NAT parameters.

It remains only to save the changes and select the item "Save and reload". The DSL configuration of Rostelecom was completed successfully.

Zyxel Keenetic for "Rostelecom"

Once modems from Zyxel were very common in the post-Soviet space and even received from the affectionate name "Zuhel". Today there are many more models, but no one is going to write off the "good old" Zyxel from the accounts.

Traditionally, the setting should begin with the fact that when the device is turned on the browser opens, and in its address bar is typed: http://192.168.1.1. You will be prompted to enter your login and password. Depending on the version of the firmware and the specific model of Zuichel, the parameters can be used: admin / admin or admin / 1234.

Next you will need to go to the "Internet" section and the "List" tab. Here, click the Broadband connection link. As a WAN port, you can choose any one offered. Also, you need to make sure that the checkboxes next to the items "Enable interface" and "Use for access to the Internet" are checked. But from the point "Get address by DHCP" the checkbox will need to be unchecked.

In the IP settings, you should specify "Do not use IP address" and in the "MAC address" note "Default".

Next, you need to click on the "Add connection" screen button in the "Authorization" section. Here you will also need to make some settings:

  • Connection type - PPPoE;

  • Come up with your name for the connection;

  • Connect via Broadband connection ISP;

  • Login and password are entered by those that were issued by Rostelecom.

It only remains to connect to the Internet.

Apparently, for Zyxel Keenetic, the "Rostelecom" setting is not as complicated as it might seem at first glance.

Another option is to configure Zyxel Keenetic.

Depending on the model of the "Zuhel" itself and the firmware used in it, the setting may look somewhat different. For example, for Zyxel Keenetic DSL, this will happen through the NetFriend quick setup wizard.

To start, you will need to reset all previous settings. To do this, when the modem is running in the browser address bar, type: http://192.168.1.1/RU/nf.html or: http://my.keenetic.net/RU/nf.html.

Next, you need to click on the "Quick Setup" button. As the login and password, the corresponding values issued by Rostelecom are entered.

In the next step, the "Wizard" asks you to specify the VPI and VCI. They need to be clarified from Rostelecom with respect to a particular region. The same applies to the encapsulation parameters.

If Rostelecom did not provide an individual IP address, it will be necessary to mark "Automatic" in the next step. Otherwise, enter the IP issued by Rostelecom. In addition, you must enter the gateway mask settings, the gateway IP address, and the DNS address. This data should also be issued by Rostelecom.

Then the "Test connection" button is pressed.

Setting up a Rostelecom connection for 3G and 4G modems

Probably the easiest thing to do with the settings is if the modem "Rostelecom" - 3G or 4G. All that is required in this case is simply to insert the modem into the USB connector of the computer and wait for the "Software Installation Wizard" to start. As a rule, you do not need to do anything special, only occasionally agree with all the conditions and click on the "Next" screen button.

All the necessary settings and parameters have already been sewn directly into the Rostelecom modem.

Connection via TV cable

Even easier if Rostelecom provides access to the Internet through a television cable. All that is required in this case is simply to plug it into the appropriate connector in the equipment. Such devices already have everything necessary for a successful connection.

Setting up the connection of Rostelecom in Windows

You can make all the necessary settings for connecting to the Internet through Rostelecom and the standard Windows tools. For different versions of the operating system, this may look different, the differences will only affect the choice of buttons and links, the principle of operation will remain.

For example, with regard to Windows 7 and later, the settings of "Rostelecom" are issued automatically for each computer. This applies to both IP addresses and other parameters. The user should only plug the Ethernet cable into the socket on the PC network card.

If, for some reason, you need to inquire about the settings or enter them manually, you will need to select "Internet and network connection" on the "Control Panel", right-click the connection icon, select the "Properties" item from the Appeared shortcut menu. Then, in the new window, select "Properties of IP version 4" and click on the "Properties" button. The appeared values in a separate window can be written to a separate sheet or to a text file so that you can enter them yourself if necessary.
