To understand the difference between IP telephony and digital telephony, we can say that the bandwidth of the first is about 6-13 kbit / s, while for the second one it is necessary to provide a channel of 64 kbit / s (ISDN).

Usually communication with traditional providers, which provide long distance and international telephony services, is conducted in two ways:

- using the telephone network, while the voip client dials the server number, then the pin code is authenticated and then the desired number can be dialed. The disadvantage of this method is the mandatory availability of a regular city number;

- VoIP gateway application allows you to make all calls without having to have a city number. For its work, you need only the availability of an Internet channel, which you provide the provider. Also, hardware or software IP telephones can be used instead of gateways.

With the installation of this equipment, it is possible to create a corporate telephone network. In this case, you can conduct all telephone conversations within the company using an internal IP network. These networks perform the following functions:
