Screw nylon: what is it?

Any electrician will tell you that without the availability of additional equipment and additional materials, his work would be virtually impossible. Take, for example, such a thing as a nylon screed. It seems, at first glance, not so important. However, with its help, the work of an electrician is somewhat accelerated and its quality is increased.

So, what is a nylon screed? This is a subject that is primarily intended for clamping cable bundles, but we'll talk about the functionality a little later. Initially, it should be noted that nylon ties are made of polyamide or nylon. The main advantage of this material is its fire resistance. That is, in the case of high temperature screed nylon melt will not start. By the way, in a different way these ties are called cable clamps, or simply clamps.

So, what are the cable clamps used for?

  • First, they are used to fix the cable to the housing of the subscriber outlet. Such screeds usually come complete with the outlet itself.
  • They also need them to fix the cable on the so-called cable-carrying structures.
  • Binding the cable into bundles.
  • Fixing of cables in street conditions with a view of their laying to a bearing cable.
  • The organization of all possible loops and cables located in the computer's system unit.
  • It is necessary to tighten the nylon coupler and to fix all kinds of cables on the cross.
  • Well, the last thing to note is the fixation of both information and power cables in the places of their entry into the junction box.

With the functionality, perhaps, everything. Of course, cable clamps can be used for some other purposes, but it is simply impossible to list all possible variants of their use in this case. And for the most part it makes no sense.

Now we will move to the construction. Screed nylon is a fairly narrow and sufficiently flexible strip, consisting, as already mentioned above, of polyamide or nylon. On one side of the screed there is a special lock, and its inner side has protrusions of teeth. When tightening, such protrusions do not allow the lock to open.

The length of the cable clamp can vary greatly. Typically, the smallest screeds have a length of 60 millimeters. At the same time, there are some that reach this very length about one and a half meters. By the way, if necessary, nylon ties are connected without any problems.

As for the width, then the runaway may not be so significant. However, in this case, the importance of each millimeter increases. After all, this directly affects the tensile load, which the clamp can withstand. Thus, a screed with a width of 2.4 mm can withstand about 8 kg, and a screed with a width of 9 mm is able to hold 80 kg already.

Well, it is necessary to say that the nylon screeds are of two types: disposable and reusable. Or, as they are properly called, non-detachable and unlockable. It should be noted that the use of the first option fully justifies itself in the economic plan.
