Russian figure skater Victoria Volchkova: biography, sports career and personal life

Victoria Volchkova is a well-known Russian single-figure skater, a multiple prizewinner of European championships. After the end of her sports career she took up coaching and had already achieved good results.

Biography of the sportswoman

Volchkova Victoria Evgenievna was born in July 1982 in Leningrad. Before the age of thirteen, the figure skater trained in her native city under the leadership of Galina Kashina.

After moving to Moscow in 1995, her mentor is Viktor Kudryashov, who helped her achieve many titles.

Sports and coaching career

At the age of 15, Victoria Volchkova won the bronze medal of the World Junior Championships. A year later she again becomes the third in this tournament. In addition, in the 1998/99 season Volchkova became the bronze medalist of the European Championship for the first time, and then repeats this result three times, thus establishing a unique record among single-figure skaters. Under the direction of Kudryavtsev, the sportswoman also won four medals of the national championship. The Russian took part in the Olympics in Salt Lake City, where she took only the ninth place.

Beginning in July 2002, Victoria Volchkova, a figure skater who was making rapid progress, was training herself in the United States under the leadership of Oleg Vasilyev. With the new program, she sensationally won at the Grand Prix stage in Moscow, confidently defeating such eminent rivals as Irina Slutskaya and Sasha Cohen. Unfortunately, long-term cooperation with Vasilyev did not work. Because of conflicts with his other wards Volchkova returned to Moscow in 2003.

New season Victoria began under the direction of Elena Chaykina, but a disastrous performance in the Russian championship and the traumatizing traumatics led to their separation. Since 2004, Volchkova again trains in the group Kudryavtseva. The second place in the championship of Russia in the pre-Olympic season allowed the skater to go to Turin as part of the national team, but because of a serious injury she refused to participate. Then there was a serious operation to remove the meniscus and a long recovery. In the end, after a short return to the ice, in 2007 Victoria Volchkova decided to complete her sports career. But she did not intend to go completely out of figure skating. Volchkova started working in the Kudryavtsev group as a coach. I was engaged with such well-known figure skaters as Sergey Dobrin and Arina Martynova.

In her students Victoria Volchkova invests all the experience and soul, and they meet their coach with high achievements. Among her young wards, there are winners and prizewinners of prestigious tournaments in Canada and Finland. Personal life

The ex-figure skater got married in 2010 for the famous hockey player Yuri Butsaev, who is in favor of the CSKA Moscow team. Starting in 2012, Victoria Butzaeva combines coaching with the care of her son.
