Room monster. Reproduction and care

Monstera is a beautiful plant, grown by many florists at home and in greenhouses. Sometimes he is jokingly called a "monster", because that's how his name is translated from Latin. Perhaps this nickname was obtained because of florid forms and their sizes, which are quite impressive in natural habitats.

Today, there are about five dozen species of this plant, but in most cases only one grows - the monster is lacoste or attractive, as it is an unpretentious plant that quickly adapts to the environment. This amazing liana comes from South America, it grows in tropical forests and reaches there up to 10-12 m.

Today, not only in greenhouses and winter gardens, but also in hospitals, offices, banks and private homes, you can see a plant such as a monster. Reproduction of this flower does not require any special efforts, therefore in specialized shops and in the markets its seedlings are sold. If someone at home already has an adult monster, then her cuttings or apex can also be used to grow a new plant.

Many are wondering how to multiply a monster. There are three ways. The simplest of them is cutting off the stem or apical cuttings. Cuttings are best dealt with in the spring months, then there will be more chances to get a strong and disease-resistant plant. The stalk does not have to be with the leaves, but the cut should be made just below the nodule with the air root by a very sharp knife. Over time, the air root will become the main one.

The stalk can be sprinkled with activated charcoal, ash or growth stimulant. Then it must be placed in water or in prepared soil from sand or expanded clay. Alternatively, you can place the process in wet moss. Heat and moisture are what a monster loves. Reproduction and root formation will occur faster if the stalk is placed in a greenhouse from a jar or cellophane bag.

Monstera also reproduces perfectly with air layers. To do this, the stem should be wrapped in moss, cellophane package and all this secured with wire. A month later, the plant takes root, then it can already be separated from the adult monster.

A young plant should be transplanted annually. At the age of 4 years, the transplant occurs every two or even three years.

Many flower growers are interested in learning how to grow a monster from seeds and whether it is possible. This option is real, although it will take a long time. It should be noted that a smaller monster is obtained from the seeds. Reproduction by any of the above methods is completely labor-consuming and well-performing.

Care for the monster is a constant spraying, watering, fertilizing fertilizers. Since the liana is from the rainforest, it loves moisture, watering with warm water. The plant is photophilous, but it is better not to fall under direct sunlight. Perfectly feels in all rooms, except for going to the south. From April to August, the period of active growth of monsters lasts, so it is necessary to fertilize the flower every two weeks.

Humidifying the room, purifying the air of formaldehyde, improving digestion, a beneficial effect on mental abilities and the nervous system - all this is due to such an amazing plant as a monster. Reproduction of it will not bring much trouble, but the benefits of the flower are obvious.
