Breathing during labor

Childbirth is a complex process, and besides all other techniques offered by doctors to reduce pain and maintain the labor of the mother, it is recommended to use the right breathing during labor. Unfortunately, not all women during pregnancy pay attention to its study, and in the meantime to breathe properly is a very important skill, it will help to speed up the process of the birth of the child and concentrate the strength of the woman.

At the very beginning of labor, contractions are not very painful. At this time it is better to use "economical", or "slow" breathing. This breathing is characterized by a depth, a slow change in exhalation. At the same time, the exhalation is long enough. During pregnancy, it is necessary to master the tactics of slow breathing, it is based on achieving the optimal ratio between inspiration and exhalation and the rhythm of heartbeat. Heart rhythm, we can not control, so it remains to learn to control breathing during labor.

Learning the technique of such breathing, it is necessary gradually (it is necessary) to extend the expiration time. This is done by controlling the pulse. The fact is that usually the inhalation and exhalation have the same number of heartbeats. However, with prolonged exhalation, it must have twice as many heartbeats. So, if there are three pulses at the inhalation, then there must be six when exhaled. Having learned to breathe so, you will achieve the most optimal relationship between the phases of breathing and cardiac contractions. And to feel the pulse, it is enough to put the fingers of one hand to the inner surface of the wrist of another - closer to the big finger.

The main technique of breathing during labor is that at the very beginning of the painful sensations - every contraction - you need to breathe out your mouth, then breathe through your nose and continue breathing, according to the principle described above: a calm, slow breathing should replace a prolonged exhalation.

In the period between contractions, especially when they are not too painful, one should try to use a relaxation breath to rest as much as possible and, to the extent possible, gain strength.

Further breathing during labor should be based on this principle: the longer the fight, the more painful it is, the longer the expiration of the woman in labor.

Some anesthetic effect can be achieved if you breathe "dog-like" - nose or mouth. Begin too with slow breathing, and with increasing pain, increase the number of breaths to one or even two per second. Breathe in quietly, and breathe out the air with noise. The mouth should be slightly covered with a hand, so that moisture does not evaporate, and the throat does not dry out. When the fight is over, breathe again economically.

If the attempts have already begun, and tugitsya while you can not (for example, not fully open the uterus), use another way of breathing during childbirth. Here you need help from someone present. Exhale deeply, then 4-5 times it is easy to inhale and exhale (here let someone help to count, because the woman is difficult to concentrate), and exhale continuously all the air, curling her lips with a tube.

When the time has come to push, in the fight, inhale as much as possible and "swallow" the air. The air will press on the diaphragm, and she - on the uterus, pushing out the baby. When there is a feeling that there is not enough air - slowly exhale and immediately inhale sharply. For one push, such a cycle must be repeated three times.

It may happen that during the delivery you will need only one of the described methods of breathing. Some are helped by all four species. Proper breathing during labor helps reduce pain and save energy. The main thing is not to be lazy during pregnancy, to learn each of the ways. It is better to do this under the guidance of an experienced delivery instructor.
