Reproduction of Roses by Cuttings

You were presented with a magnificent bouquet of wonderful roses. Such a bouquet will please for a few days, at best one week, and then the flowers will inevitably wither and they will have to be thrown away. And did you know that roses can be given a second life and grow new cuttings from cut flowers that will please you with their flowering for many years? For this, the propagation of roses by cuttings is used. To grow flowers will have to work a little.

Reproduction of the rose by cuttings begins with the preparation of the cuttings. Cuttings of roses for planting are cut from flower stems. It is noticed that stalks with thorns root, rose varieties that do not have thorns, do not give roots during cuttings and do not multiply in this way. To obtain the cuttings, the largest stems with green leaves are selected. Better give the roots of cuttings with heels. With a sharp knife or a razor blade, an oblique cut is placed underneath the stem, located under the kidney itself. It is necessary that the cut of the stem is even, otherwise the stem can be rotten during further cultivation. To get a smooth cut, you need to use a well sharpened knife. The upper cut is made straight, located above the kidney at a distance no less than one centimeter.

The best are rooted cuttings with three buds and two internodes. You can try to root cuttings with one kidney, but the probability of rooting such cuttings is much lower. The remaining leaves on the stem are partially removed - the lower shoot with the leaves completely, and on the upper leaves two or three leaves are left. This is done in order to reduce the evaporation of moisture by cuttings necessary for rooting.

After preparing the cuttings, you need to prepare boxes for planting. It is better if they are new or not previously used for growing plants. Previously grown plants could be infected with an infection, molds can remain in the box. In this capacity, the propagation of roses by cuttings will not be successful. For decontamination boxes must be treated with some antiseptic. After processing the boxes on the bottom, you need to fill the drainage, in the role of which you can use expanded clay, rubble or just shards of old flower clay pots. An earthen mixture, consisting of one part of river sand, one part of the leaf earth and two parts of turf, is poured over the drainage. Above the ground again poured an even layer of river sand, a layer thickness of two to three centimeters.

After the training, you can start planting cuttings. Cuttings should be planted in the ground at an angle of 45 degrees. The first lower kidney when planting should be located under the stalk close to the ground surface. Above the ground, the stem should protrude 8-10 centimeters. After planting all the cuttings should be well watered with a strong solution of potassium permanganate, known in the people as manganese. Each planted stem of roses should be covered with glass containers, glass jars used for preservation are best for this purpose. Rooting occurs at a temperature of 22-25 degrees. Daily cuttings should be sprayed several times with water at room temperature. Usually after two or three weeks the cuttings take root, as evidenced by the small shoots on the stems. After rooting, the cans can be removed.

The replacement of roses with cuttings is not always possible. Best of all, this method is suitable for polyanthus, climbing roses, floribunda group varieties. Tea-hybrid roses propagate by cuttings are transferred worse, other methods are used for their propagation, for example, grafting. This method can be used to grow roses in the open ground and indoors.

Now you have understood that the reproduction of roses by cuttings is not such a complicated matter. Using this method, you can always get a bush of roses of the variety you like, grow a whole rosary to decorate your site.
