Clay pot. About advantages and disadvantages

Clay pots for flowers - an integral element not only for any florist, but for an ordinary housewife, who wants to make her home cozy and beautiful. To choose this or that variant of a pot of clay at first glance seems quite simple, but in fact, there are some features.

The clay pot is preferred by most florists. He has a number of undoubted advantages. First, such dishes for flowers perfectly passes not only water, but also useful substances and oxygen. In addition, the porous walls are able to evaporate excess moisture, thus saving plants. If the clay pot is placed directly in the peat soil, the flower can not only be moistened, but also receive a certain proportion of the substances necessary for its development and growth. This method is especially good if the plant owner needs to leave for a long period of time.

However, the clay pot, along with its merits, has drawbacks. These include the possibility of rapid loss of moisture near the heater, battery or any other source of heat. The sudden evaporation of water leads to cooling of the earth, which can be disastrous for some representatives of the flora. On the ceramic pots often appears lime scale. Sometimes clay pot "decorate" unicellular algae. In order to get rid of the above problems, it is enough to wipe the surface of the dishes with potato cleaners, then rinse thoroughly. Before using a new pot, you must first wet it well. In the event that new dishes are not used for planting flowers, it is advisable to rinse it first.

To make a pot at home, you will need a knife, clay for modeling, baking paper, a stick and a template for the right dishes. It is better to use clay polymer, because it does not require additional drying.

Step 1. Roll the clay into a plate, the thickness of which should be approximately equal to 1 centimeter.

Step 2. Cut the parts of the pot according to the previously prepared stencil.

Step 3. Connect the edges of the dishes with a stick to smooth out, cover the formed slits.

Stage 4. Allow the product to dry out (if using polymer clay) or send it to the oven (clay packing usually contains instructions).

Step 5. Check pot for integrity. If everything is in order, proceed to planting the plants.

You can beautifully decorate flower pots with your own hands, make an ornament or paint with a pre-prepared stencil. It is better to choose shades that will blend in with the flower itself. Since clay excellently absorbs water, it is necessary to apply the pattern several times.

So, to decorate an ordinary clay pot, you need to prepare a centimeter tape, ruler, chalk, paint (better to use acrylic), paper tape, stencils.

Step 1. Measure the perimeter of the edges of the dishes and divide all the walls into several equal parts.

Step 2. Stick the paper tape so that the empty surface represents a special pattern. Apply the paint, and in several layers. After the pattern is dry, the tape is removed.

Step 3. Using the stencil on the clay pot, several more images are added.

If there are certain skills and talent, you can easily do without templates.
