Kuwaiti dinar. The most expensive

We have long been accustomed to the fact that all transactions in foreign currencies are almost automatically converted to US dollars. Meanwhile, the dollar is by no means the most stable currency and not the most expensive in the world market. In relation to the Russian ruble, and in general in the world market, the leading position is occupied by the Kuwaiti dinar.

History of country and currency of Kuwait

Almost the whole state consists only of the city of the same name and a piece of desert adjoining it. But the local bill (dinar) is one of the leading places in the world market. Dinars gladly accept banks not only in the Middle East, but throughout the world. Dinar is resistant to economic storms and is considered freely convertible currency. But it was not always so. At the very beginning of the 19th century Great Britain strengthened its influence throughout the Middle East. And at the very end of the 19th century, Kuwait fell under Britain's protectorate. And only by the beginning of the 60s of the 20th century Kuwait gained independence. For a long time, the Indian rupee was used as the currency in the entire Middle East. Closer to the moment of independence, at the time of the transition, a special rupee of the Persian Gulf was issued . Initially, its course was equated to the Indian rupee. Already after Kuwait became independent, in 1961 appears as a currency dinar. Initially, his course was equated to the British pound sterling. Already more than 10 years later, the Kuwaiti dinar to the dollar was exchanged in a ratio of 1 to 3. Even now, this rate has changed little. At the beginning of the last decade of the 20th century, Kuwait was occupied by Iraq. The invaders actively exported all the cash from the country. In this regard, after the completion of the military operation, the Government of Kuwait was forced to issue new banknotes. At the same time, as early as the beginning of the 1990s, the Kuwaiti dinar had such high levels of protection that many currencies of the world can not boast after 20 years.

What does the most expensive currency in the world look like?

Quite surprising for many are the denominations on Kuwaiti bills. So, according to Kuwait, there are circulation of banknotes worth ½ and ¼ dinars. It should also be said that the dinar itself consists of thousands of fils. Also in the country there are circulations of denominations of 20, 10, 5 and 1 dinar. Kuwaiti dinar (photo banknotes presented in the article) looks quite unusual for European banknotes. So on a banknote in denomination of 5 dinars on the obverse (front side) of the bills are depicted ancient millstones and the Tower-mosque. And the rear of the plant is depicted. The note itself is pink in color, on all Kuwaiti banknotes the state emblem is depicted. Also in the country are coins of various denominations. Please note that the coins were not replaced during the monetary reform (the year of their release - until 1991). Import, as well as export, of currency to the territory of the country is unlimited.

Which country is this and the currency

As mentioned earlier, the dinar is one of the most expensive banknotes in the world. For example: the Kuwaiti dinar to the ruble at the beginning of February was exchanged at a rate of 223 rubles per one dinar. The ratio to the dollar remains, virtually constant - one to three. Of course, at this level of currency, Kuwaiti citizens are perhaps the richest in the Middle East. The country occupies the 4th place in the world in terms of the number of millionaires per thousand indigenous people. Also in the recent past, Kuwait was recognized by the UN as the best country to live in.

How not to fall into the trap?

If you are destined to go to the Middle East, it is worthwhile being an island with a currency exchange for Kuwaiti dinar. As already mentioned, at the end of the last century, when invading the country, a huge amount of cash was exported. Of course, in Kuwait itself you should not be afraid of substitution. In all exchange offices there are posters showing new and old bills. But if you plan to do it somewhere in a remote village, be extremely careful. Although there is a fairly simple option to distinguish between "real" dinar. It should be printed not earlier than 1992.

And if suddenly ...

When planning a trip to Kuwait, one should know that the currencies of other countries are practically not accepted here. Of course, there is a possibility that somewhere in the market you will take money based on the course. But it is better to have a Kuwaiti dinar with you. Exchange offices exist in almost all shops and banks. However, even in them it is worthwhile to carefully study the terms of exchange, since many banks take rather high interest even on insignificant amounts. Exchange offices work on a rather peculiar schedule. On Friday they do not work, on Thursday - only until noon. The rest of the days - from eight in the morning to noon, and then from four to eight. By the way, credit card holders can be calm, they are accepted for payment almost everywhere. Leaving the country, do not rush to change the Kuwaiti dinar. You will have time to return to the ruble, and it will not be difficult to exchange it in Moscow. But to pay for dinars airport tax will be. Anyone who leaves Kuwait by plane must pay 2 dinars.
