Reproduction of roses

The beauty of the rose, the duration of flowering, a pleasant aroma - that's what rightfully makes it a queen among flowering plants. You can propagate a rose in two main ways - seed and vegetative. The seed method is used mainly by breeders to breed a new variety, as well as for growing plants used for grafting as rootstocks. Reproduction of roses by seeds can also be applied to some park varieties. Most of the varieties of roses either do not form seeds, or when sowing they do not pass on the qualities of the parental specimens. In this case, the vegetative method is used for reproduction - division of the bush, rooting of the layers, offsprings or cuttings, as well as inoculation.

If the reproduction of roses is carried out by rooting the cuttings, drawing off or dividing the bush, then the plant obtained in this way is called the progeny. If the above-ground part of this bush dies, then shoots of the same variety will grow from the root collar. In the case of grafted roses, shoots of dog rose are formed in this case. Root-bearing seedlings have a shorter growing time, require less labor, however, they are very susceptible to adverse environmental influences, including low temperatures, and therefore often die in winter.

Reproduction of roses is easiest to do by dividing bushes. In the spring, after the soil has thawed completely, but the bush has not yet dissolved buds, it is excavated. If the uterine plant should be preserved, then the bush should not be excavated completely, it can only be separated by a shovel its peripheral part. Then carefully cut it with a pruner or knife, so that each of them has roots and shoots. Damaged when digging roots should be removed to a healthy part. Shoots should also be shortened so that 3 to 4 kidneys are preserved on each. In order to properly form a bush in the future, the upper left kidneys should not be directed inwards. Plants are planted in a permanent place, previously dipped roots in a clay chatterbox.

Rooting of offspring is propagated by those varieties of root- garden parcels, which during the period of intensive growth form a set of vertical shoots that depart from the main bush. They are excavated, processed in the same way as in the division of bushes, and planted in the ground.

Rooting off the layers is another way to get new rose bushes. Reproduction by this method is especially convenient for stiff varieties. In the early spring, near the bush, shallow grooves are prepared. Then select the shoot from the root neck. In a place that turns out to be underground, ring cuts are made on the bark to induce an inflow of nutrients and, accordingly, accelerated root formation. Escape gently prygibayut, put in a groove and pins. From above, it is sprinkled with a loose moistened earth so that the top remains above the surface of the earth. To give the vertical position it must be tied to dug pegs. The soil in this place throughout the summer should be regularly watered and loosened. By the autumn, the roots form roots, but do not hurry with digging. Separate them can only next spring. And if the plant looks weak - it's better still in a year.

Rooting of stem cuttings is the most common way of obtaining shrubs of root-rooted roses, although it requires more time and labor, compared to others. In this case, you can use both lignified and semi-mature cuttings.

Reproduction of roses with lignified cuttings is performed in autumn. Well-ripened annual stems 4-5 mm thick are cut and divided into cuttings. Their length should be about 10 - 12 cm. If the landing is not done immediately, they must be placed in water. Planted at an incline, almost completely immersing in the soil.

When using semi-extruded cuttings, take the middle part of the shoots in the stage of the first flowering. The stalk should be 7 - 10 cm long and have two or three leaves. The bottom sheet is cut completely, and the top is partially shortened. This is done to reduce the evaporation of moisture. Cuttings can be immersed for 6 hours in a solution of hetauroauxin or succinic acid. Planted in boxes with the ground, not too deepening. If the timing of the cuttings is observed, usually the root system is formed by autumn , but still weak and undeveloped. Therefore, the seedlings of the summer cuttings are left in boxes until the spring. Even before the onset of frost boxes must be transferred to a cellar or other cool room. In the spring, the seedlings can be planted in the soil to a permanent place.

This method gives so good results that even the reproduction of roses by cuttings of the house does not look weird. Liked roses from the bouquet given to you can also be cut into cuttings and rooted, having carried out all the above described actions.
