It is very important not only to choose the sorts of plums, but also to choose the planting material. Plum seedlings are advisable to buy in specialized nurseries - so you will have the confidence that you have purchased the variety that was collected.

The yellow plums "morning" have an average resistance to diseases and do not tolerate severe winters very well, but they recover quickly in the spring, although they do not bear fruit well after freezing. Actively give fruit begin on the 4th year (about 22 kilograms from a young tree). Plums grow large, weighing 26-30 grams, coloration - greenish-yellow, taste - sweet with light acidity. Often in the household plots there are yellow varieties of plums of national selection. One of these varieties is Ochakovo yellow. It is widely distributed in the south of the north-western zone, blooms late, fructifies well when planted together with other late-flowering varieties of plums ("winter red," "Kingisep", etc.). Trees, usually high, with a pyramidal crown, have dark green round shiny leaves. Fruits are greenish-yellow or amber-yellow, the flesh of this plum is juicy, sweet with a spicy aroma.

There are other yellow varieties of plums that can be grown in this region. For example, the variety, developed by Michurin "Renklada Reform", is successfully grown in the Velikie Luki, Novgorod regions, in the suburbs of St. Petersburg. But it should be planted in protected places - it has insufficient winter hardiness. The tree grows at an average height (about 3 meters) with a sprawling crown. The foliage is dark green, round, ovoid in shape. The fruits are large (30-35 grams), the color is yellow-green, the flesh is dense, juicy, sweet.

Plum yellow "early lushchitskaya" refers to trees with good winter hardiness and yield. Actively fructify begins already for 4-5 years (25-26 kilograms from a tree). Refers to self-fertilized varieties, therefore does not require the growth of a number of other varieties of plums for pollination. The fruit is roundish, yellow-green in color, medium in size. The pulp is juicy, sweet, the bone separates well. Ripening fruit after August 15 is uneven. Mature plums fall off, they can be stored for up to 10 days.

Some yellow varieties of plums are distinguished by their high winter hardiness. For example, "Tatar yellow". The trees of this variety grow up to medium height (up to 3 meters), the crown is sprawling. Leaves are small, light green in color, elongated, ovate, slightly pubescent. Flowering - later, after all the frosts. The maturity period is mid-August. The fruits are medium, amber-yellow, the taste is sweet with a slight sourness. This variety can be attributed to high-yield (up to 30 kilograms from an adult tree), but for good fruiting requires the joint growth of other types of plums ("rakitovaya", "blue eyes", "Tenkovsky").
