Place for planting

Alycha "Gift to St. Petersburg" is not exacting to the growing conditions. Landing is recommended to be carried out at a place that is protected from gusts of cold wind, which can harm flowers during the flowering period. The most favorable are the sites located on the south side of the house or other garden buildings. They will play the role of a kind of shield that protects plants from the cold wind in the spring. In addition, in winter, a higher temperature will be observed in this area, and in the early spring a faster melting of snow. In addition, it should be borne in mind that the variety of alycha "Gift to St. Petersburg", however, like all others, does not have self-fertility.

Planting a seedling

A plum planting is carried out in the spring. The soil of the planting site begins to be prepared after melting snow. In most cases, this occurs in early spring. The seedlings must be planted before they begin to bud. To do this, special pits with a size of 60x80 cm are prepared. They are excavated to a depth of 50 cm. This is necessary in order for the roots of the seedling to settle evenly in the pit, without bends or creases. In the excavated soil add humus, 200 g of phosphate fertilizers and 60 g of potassium. Instead of the latter, 0.5 kg of wood ash can be added. All this is mixed up. When the nutrient mixture is ready, a small part of it is covered in a prepared pit. It will play the role of a pillow. Then the roots of the seedling are placed in it. It should be noted that the root neck should not be located above the soil level.

Care of the plant

To get a good harvest, you need to make sure that there is no thickening on the tree. Otherwise, the yield decreases sharply, and the mass of fruits decreases. In addition, the tree must be shaped. During the growing season, it can form long annual increments (some of them reach 60 cm), which must be shortened. When broken or dried shoots appear, they should also be removed in a timely manner.

At the beginning of summer a number of activities are carried out, which are aimed at preparing for the winter period. In order to increase the winter hardiness of flowering buds, it is necessary to perform pinching. It consists in prischipke shoots. This event slows the development of the kidneys located on annual increments, thereby keeping them in the winter. This in the subsequent leads to the fact that flowering on these shoots is delayed, reducing the likelihood of their damage during spring frosts.

To ensure that in winter such rodents as mice and hares could not damage the bark, at the end of autumn the trunk of the tree at the base is tied with spruce lapnik or cane. If there are no such materials, glass wool can be used.

disadvantages
