Point Nemo - cemetery of space ships

In the desert region of the Pacific Ocean there is the so-called cemetery of spaceships (48 ° 52'S and 123 ° 23'W) - Nemo Point, named in this way in honor of the well-known literary hero of the adventure and fantasy work of Jules Verne Another name is the Pole of Inaccessibility). The nearest land - a small atoll Dyusi - is located 2688 km north of the Nemo Point. It was here, under the ocean waves, that they found their last shelter 145 "Progress" of the Russian Federation, 4 HTV space vehicles of Japan and 5 cargo ATV space vehicles belonging to the European Space Agency. Also, the cemetery of spacecraft stores the remains of 6 "Salutes" and space station "Mir".

Without reuse

Naturally, not a single space station (or spaceship) is resting in the Pacific Ocean intact, they were all absorbed by the water column in the form of separate significant fragments. For most spacecraft, contact with the atmosphere is extremely damaging, they do not have a special effective thermal protection, unlike piloted descent modules. The cemetery of spacecraft in the Pacific Ocean has taken into its bosom those orbital stations and space trucks, which initially no one planned to return to Earth for reuse. Similar spaceplanes, being in the lower dense layers of the Earth's atmosphere, are destroyed and burned. But some fragments reach the earth's surface, so the designation of the burial area for decommissioned and near-Earth orbit ships ("cemetery spacecraft") is justified and expedient.

Emergency incidents

The history of Nemo Point has two emergency situations. In 1979, the wreckage of the US space station Skylab, before reaching the conditional square of the water area, fell on the western mainland Australia. And in 1991, the remains of the Russian orbital station Salyut-7 partially fell on the territory of Argentina. Fortunately, both unforeseen cases were treated without significant destruction and human casualties. The cemetery of space ships is a dangerous neighborhood. That is why in the early spring of 2001, during the decommissioning of the Mir orbital complex, the authorities of Japan, Australia and the Fiji Islands urged their citizens to refrain from walking and hiding in the premises.

Cosmosmosor recycling

Every year, the cemetery of spacecraft in the Pacific Ocean is replenished with several dozen space vehicles. According to experts, the practice adopted by the international community for the utilization of space debris with the help of cargo ships does not cause any tangible harm to the planet's ecology. The stations and ships that have exhausted their resource are subject to flooding, their compartments are loaded with waste from the activities of participants in space expeditions and other debris. Typically, the surfaces of the Pacific Ocean waters are reached by individual refractory elements of the ship (most of it completely burns out in dense layers of the atmosphere), which after descent fall to a depth of more than 4 kilometers.

UFO Cemetery

After receiving the next shots sent by the Curiosity rover from the Red Planet, most ufologists-lovers became interested in distinctly observed strange craters on the surface of Mars. After careful investigation, they put forward a number of assumptions regarding their origin. One version assures the public that these craters are traces of the landing of alien spaceplots, UFO Sightings Daily informs about this. According to one of the participants in the analysis, similar craters were discovered earlier on the Moon. Moreover, anomalies on our natural satellite also failed to find a logical explanation. According to unanimous opinion of ufologists, the detected relief forms are of artificial origin and represent either original cosmodromes or a cemetery of spacecraft. Photos submitted to the public are still published on the UFO blog. According to another version, the detected depressions are nothing more than repair shops in which UFOs have been serviced. But the hypothesis that the Curiosity rover photographed the cemetery of space ships on Mars has become very popular.

Asteroid Vesta

In the asteroid belt, located between Jupiter and Mars, a celestial body with a diameter greater than 550 km was discovered. This asteroid, called by scientists Vesta, according to one popular hypothesis, is the remnant of the destroyed planet Phaethon, once inhabited by intelligent beings. About a year ago, an automatic probe "Dawn" (USA) was close enough to him, and the NASA collection was replenished with detailed and expressive images of its surface. UFOlogy, exploring the photos, found some interesting, strange objects on the surface of Vesta. The photographs allegedly show a dilapidated disk-like UFO, partially hidden beneath a layer of soil, a semblance of an airplane and other strange constructions. Scientists have no reason to assume that these objects are of earth origin. Most likely, these are traces of the existing civilization of Phaethon or another UFO cemetery. The fact is that experts have discovered flying structures that are very different from each other, this allowed them to assume that the ships belong to different alien civilizations. So that not only on Mars found a cemetery of space ships, but also on distant Vesta.

Fantasy's destiny

Nevertheless, it is unlikely that in the near future humanity will be able to learn more about the artifacts found. The manned expedition to Vesta and Mars is not yet to be sent. All hypotheses remain the lot of science fiction writers.
