Plaster "Rothband" - consumption per 1 m2 at work

If you are thinking about the repair, and in plans - leveling the walls, then the best assistant will be a plaster mix "Rothband". Its popularity is due to the quickness of the plaster drying and the convenience of work.

Mixture "Rothband" is quite elastic and allows you to hide significant unevenness on the surfaces of walls or ceilings. In addition, even inexperienced masters can use this gypsum plaster of the German firm Knauf.

Plaster "Rotband"

The consumption of 1m2 leaves about 8-10 kg with a layer thickness of 1 cm. Since the plaster is produced in packages of 30 and 50 kg, respectively, one package is enough for 3 and 5 square meters. M, provided that the layer will be about 1 cm.

We prepare the base

As with any plaster, the surface should be cleaned of dust, dirt, debris, stains and grease, and even large irregularities if they are on the wall or ceiling. Otherwise, the increased consumption of "Rothband" with plaster walls will entail significant financial costs. Be sure to treat with a primer and allow it to soak up and dry for about 12 hours.

When performing work on the ceiling, especially when processing reinforced concrete surfaces, it is first necessary to glue structures with a special tape produced by Knauf - Knauf Trenn-Fix 65.

When treating water-absorbent surfaces, it is necessary to pre-treat them with a primer - Knauf Stuc primer.

Prepare the mixture

When working with this material, you should take into account some features. Otherwise, the quality of work will suffer or when working with plaster "Rotband" the expense will be much greater than declared by the manufacturer. If you plan to work for one person, then do not prepare a mixture of 2-3 bags - the mixture will quickly harden, and it will have to be thrown away. Better to have time to apply the mixture on the wall for half an hour.

We take a plastic bucket with a volume of about 20 liters. For one bag of a dry mixture (30 kilograms), pour 18 liters into the container (or proportionally, according to instructions) of the water (clean, room temperature) and cover 5-7 spatulas of the plaster mixture, mix thoroughly.

After that, pour the remaining mixture out of the bag. Using a construction mixer, mix until smooth, without lumps. The diameter of the nozzle should be at least 10 cm. If necessary, add water or mixtures and mix again. We take a break for 4-5 minutes to complete in the solution of the chemical processes and mix again.

Important points

After the solution has been prepared, do not add a dry mixture or water! Otherwise, the balance will break. Only when the instructions for preparing the plaster mix "Rotband" are observed, the consumption will be within the limits of the norm, and you will not spend extra money. And in any case, do not allow other components to enter the solution!

Features of the plaster "Rothband"

The consumption per 1m2 is approximately 8-10 kg, as mentioned above, when the mixture is applied with a layer of 1 cm thick. The plaster has a lighter weight compared to cement plasters. Accordingly, this makes it possible to reduce the load on ceilings and walls. This plaster is gypsum-based, so it can only be applied indoors. The temperature should be at least +5 degrees.

When applied to the walls with a layer of 1.5 cm thick plastering "Rotband" the consumption per 1 m2 is already sosatvit 12-15 kg. However in this case it is necessary to use a plaster grid. If you follow the instructions and correctly prepare the mixture, then you can paste wallpaper even on the first layer of plaster. You can paint walls after applying one finishing coat.

These qualities of the plaster "Rothband" (consumption per 1m2, lightness and plasticity) make it attractive for use in the bathroom or in the kitchen.

To ensure faster drying of the material, it is necessary to ensure proper ventilation in the room to be repaired. After the end of work, tools and equipment must be thoroughly rinsed with water.

Important!

  1. Tools after the end of work should be washed. Dirty tools have a negative impact on the quality of the mixture, as water from it absorbs into the contaminated areas of the tool, reducing its required level.
  2. The average thickness of the layer is 1 cm, the minimum thickness is 0.5 cm. If it is required to apply a thicker layer, then it will be necessary to plaster it in two sets. Rule the first layer (or spatula) and draw on the surface of vertical grooves. After the first layer has dried a little and looks like plasticine, we apply a second layer.
  3. The ceiling is always plastered only in one layer. In any case, when using a mix of "Rotband" the consumption per 1 m 2 depends directly on the thickness of the applied plaster layer.
  4. The solution is applied only on the primed surface.

Some subtleties of work

Stucco mixture "Rotband" has the property to flow over the surface. Periodically drag the solution from the bottom up and remove its excess.

After the treated surface hardens, it should be sprinkled with water and wipe with a damp sponge, and after 10-15 minutes, smooth with a soft brush. This is repeated 2-3 times. As a result of these simple manipulations, all the defects that were left after the surface leveling with plaster have completely disappeared.
