Aligning walls with lighthouse profiles

Aligning the walls is not such a complicated process. Having studied the materials of this article, you can, with your own hands, level and prepare walls for further plastering, painting and any kind of finishing.

Aligning walls to beacons After preliminary surface preparation. It is necessary to dismantle the old coating (wallpaper, etc.) and clean the wall of dust, then necessarily primed the surface. When selecting the soil, it should be taken into account that it is better to apply quartz primer to concrete surfaces. Since it gives the concrete walls some roughness, which gives a positive result when applying plaster. Walls of brick, aerated concrete, etc. Primed with ordinary soil. Alignment of walls is also carried out with the use of plaster mesh. Use of the grid is necessary if the plaster layer exceeds the thickness of 50 mm, or if the wall is made of a gas silicate block or aerated concrete. Aligning the walls in the bathroom also provides for the use of plaster mesh, in case the wall is trimmed with plasterboard, on which the tiling of tiles is planned .

Installation of metal beacons (beacon profile) is carried out using a plaster solution in an upright position. Pre-cut the beacon profile to the height of the walls of the room, as it is available with a length of three meters.

To perform the installation of metal beacons you will need a plumb bob, rule and level. First and foremost, it is necessary to establish extreme beacons. For this, we retreat from the angle of ten centimeters and apply several hillocks of the plaster solution (the distance is more than 40 cm), after which we set the beacon profile on these hillocks. Press the profile against the wall, starting from the center point of attachment. Using the level, we check the vertical position of the beacon. Similarly, we do on the other side of the wall. Alignment of walls with the use of beacon profiles also provides for the installation of intermediate beacons with a distance between them of 1-1.5 m. Selecting three points (top, bottom, center), fix the dowels and stretch the cord so that it is on par with the beacon profile . All other beacon profiles are installed on this cord. Before proceeding to the plastering of the walls, it is necessary to wait for a certain time, in order to freeze the solution on which the beacon profile is fixed.

Before preparing the plaster mortar, be sure to read the instructions for its preparation, which is on the packaging. Apply the plaster with a spatula or trowel from the bottom up. Alignment of the walls, as a rule, is carried out by sections of 50 cm. Applying the rule to the beacons and leading it from the bottom up, remove excess plaster mortar, thereby making the wall perfectly flat. After The plaster solution is more or less frozen (it is strong, but still fresh), it is possible to dismantle lighthouses. Often, this is done in a couple of hours, but only if you use a plaster mixture. When using a cement mixture, it will be better the next day. At the end of the dismantling of the beacon profiles, it is necessary to withstand some time for complete drying of the wall, after which it is possible to seal up the lighthouse shrouds.
