The old flaking paint and whitewash should be drenched with plenty of water, then scrape off with a spatula. Shallow cracks should be cut to a depth of one centimeter and cover with mortar, doing cosmetic repairs. The ceiling can be repaired with the help of the same building mixtures used for laying the original coating. If the composition of the past coating is unknown, it is better to completely remove the old and cracked plaster.

Cleaned and prepared for repair plastering areas should be slightly watered with water to better adhere to the new mixture. The grinding is carried out by the following actions: apply a spatula on the putty knife, put a layer on the surface to be treated, and then "spread out" rubbed. Movements should be smooth, and the solution must be applied as evenly as possible. The surface with visible rust stains is cut down completely, the deep section is fastened with a metal fine mesh net and plastered, layerwise applying a solution.
