Partition Sliding: advantages and disadvantages

The sliding partition is a useful and spectacular find for the designer, using which you can simulate space, creating isolated rooms or hiding a kitchen or bedroom for a while.

In contrast to sliding doors, partitions have large dimensions of the canvas. Their width exceeds 1800 mm, and the height is usually more than 2300 mm. The sliding partition is developed strictly individually and is completed at the manufacturing plant - unlike the door, which can be finished after the acquisition, equipped with a roller mechanism.

Purpose of use:

  • Closing a wide opening;
  • Division of the room into separate parts;
  • The creation of several isolated rooms.

The sliding partition is easily installed in the renovated apartment, its accommodation does not need to be coordinated with the housing inspection and it is also not necessary to make changes to the BTI plan.

Produce the product only to order. The client must first familiarize himself with the assortment in the catalog and choose the model you like.

Mechanisms of movement

The mechanism is hidden in the niche or behind the screen, but its importance for the design is very high, as it provides a soft running and reliability. Two systems are known. This is the "accordion" and the suspension on the rollers.

Mechanism with roller suspension

Consists of rollers and a pencil case. Roller mechanism has the necessary diameter and rolling bearings, so that the whole structure is easy to move and withstand heavy loads. Different ruler rollers are designed for different loads, so they are selected depending on the material and weight of the blade, otherwise the mechanism will quickly fail. This system has such a disadvantage as rocking the bottom, not fixed, part of the sliding partition. To eliminate the drawback, use tools such as flags (which are installed in the lower end), staples on the bottom of the leaf, rollers on the springs for more reliable adhesion to the floor, synchronizers for the simultaneous movement of all the cloths.

Sliding partitions "accordion"

In this mechanism, the hinged and sliding opening systems are combined. Valves with a jamb and with each other are connected by means of loops. The upper part of the lintel is equipped with guides, along which the sliding partition is moved by means of rollers.

The disadvantage of this system is a weak soundproofing. It can be corrected by applying noise-absorbing pads and brush seals.

Design of partitions

The sliding partition is equipped with a sheet consisting of a frame and sheet material. Most often, steel, aluminum, wood (oak, beech) is used for the frame. The material for filling is chipboard (lined with veneer or laminated). Sliding glass partitions can be tinted, decorative, with photo printing or mirrored. Style of performance can also be any (at the choice of the customer).

Classics are frames made of aluminum profiles or laminated wood. For filling - patterned glass or chipboard. Art Deco - a glass of bright colors, which is combined with the technique of stained glass and photo printing techniques. Ethnic style - a frame made of wood. Material for filling - rattan weave or noble fabric. Partition sliding in the style of minimalism - a simple or tinted canvas of glass without a frame, devoid of any decor.
