Painting walls and ceilings: tips and tricks

Painting walls and ceilings is a responsible business, and to get a good result, you need to follow certain rules. To paint successfully, you need to be careful, use high-quality materials and work in good light. It is necessary to choose a good roller, and for a textured painting, a trowel or spatula is required. When choosing a roller, you need to pay attention to its pile. It should absorb the paint well and coat it with a thick layer.

Do not overuse paint. Let's say that if the walls are painted on textured wallpaper, then after drawing two dense layers, the drawing may "drown" in the paint in some places, and in other places it can appear normally. As a result, an uneven "mosaic" will result, which is unacceptable. Also, for painting ceilings and walls, an additional smaller roller is required. This will allow painting of hard-to-reach places.

When painting ceilings and walls with water-based paint using a roller, use a special tray, which is required to remove excess paint from the roller. This allows you to evenly apply it. Work in a room with high ceilings should be done with a roller with a special extension to freely reach the desired places from the floor. In the process of painting the walls, move up and down, while avoiding the paint on the ceiling.

Before painting the surface, it is recommended to prime it again with a roller, but never with a brush. After using the brush, there will be stains that will continue to appear.

As mentioned, high-quality painting of walls is impossible without good lighting, which allows you to see all the shortcomings in time. During operation, it is required to carefully inspect the surface and make sure that there are no droplets, stains or excess paint on the place where the roller was run. If necessary, it is necessary to pass the painted areas repeatedly, so that the paint evenly falls on the surface. In addition, the layers should be applied so that no lumens remain, especially in the case of putty walls.

When painting the ceiling, work should begin with the most illuminated side, namely the window. If there are several windows in the room located on different sides, you need to determine where the light falls best, and this will be the starting point. Painting of walls with paint should be done from the illuminated side, because if they hit on their surface of light, traces from the roller may appear, especially if the paint is not flattened.

The lateral light shows even small flaws, this especially applies to the ceiling. In the case of painting wallpaper, work should also start from the window, since they begin to be glued in the same way from the illuminated side. If there were glued wallpaper of low quality, then at the edges of the canvas can be seen small strips due to poor docking of sheets.

It is recommended to paint such stripes in the direction of pasting, in which case the paint will get better into the problem areas. This technique will not affect the situation, but it will still achieve a slightly better result.
