Water-based paint: properties and varieties

Staining is the most popular way of decorating. This type of decoration refers to the simplest, while it provides unlimited possibilities for creating an individual style and creativity.

To make the painting, water emulsion paint is best suited, which can be used both inside and outside the building. This material is easy to use, not aggressive, with the help of a pigment you can easily change its color, getting a variety of shades.

Water-emulsion paint is a stable emulsion (suspension, suspension), where the binding base and pigments are weighed (dispersed) in an aqueous medium. It turns out that water dilutes, but does not dissolve small particles of polymers, which are in a suspended state. After staining, water evaporates, and a solid film is created with the help of polymers. After that, the surface is no longer afraid of moisture.

In addition, water-based paint has a number of advantages. It does not have a strong odor, does not emit harmful fumes, the painted surface can easily be washed.

There are acrylic, silicone and silicate water emulsions. In acrylic the basic basic element are special resins. Such materials have high strength and elasticity, however their price is quite high.

Acrylic latex are the same water-dispersive paints, only in them is added latex, which allows to achieve a significant water repellent effect. An important property of latex paints is their vapor permeability, which does not interfere with water repellent properties. The resulting polymer film can withstand more than five thousand brushing cycles. In other words, the surface can be cleaned, washed almost unlimited times.

The basis of silicone water-based paint is an aqueous dispersion of silicone resin. These paints are the most modern and combine all the best qualities. The surface covered with their help is practically not wetted, at the same time they pass gas and steam. These properties allow the use of silicone paints on newly plastered surfaces, they will not prevent the hardening of the plaster. At the same time, the consumption of water-based paint when applied to the surface is low enough.

Silicone paints are not aggressive and have a high plasticity. They can mask cracks up to two millimeters wide, and insects can not breed on the treated surface.

Silicone water-based paint is used on virtually all types of mineral surfaces. It has compatibility with both latex and acrylic or mineral paints. They are convenient to use for any type of work. Producing, for example, water supply of a private house with their own hands, all the elements of the construction can be covered with these paints.
