Oil for wood for interior works: advantages, features of application
Treating wood with lacquers is an excellent solution. However, the surfaces coated with such protective surfaces require careful care and periodic restoration. All this is a rather laborious and complex process. To avoid unnecessary inconvenience, it is advisable to use wood oil for interior work.
Functions of oil impregnations
Why is it better to give preference to oil when processing wood?
Advantages of oils over paintwork
- When processing exotic, expensive wood, the internal structure of which in itself is rich in natural oils.
- When the operation of a wooden structure is expected in conditions of significant changes in humidity and temperatures.
- If it is necessary to protect against the natural effects of the parquet or flooring, under which the elements of the heating system are located. Thus, the use of oil impregnation eliminates the deformation of the material.
- In the case of processing floors in open areas. Even the most high-quality, expensive varnishes can withstand a limited number of freezing and thawing cycles. Oil impregnations are free from this drawback.
- When covering the wood, which often comes in contact with moisture and water (structures located in bathrooms, near swimming pools).
There is a specific quality that wood oil has for internal work. According to physiotherapists, it is useful to walk barefoot on a wooden floor to restore good health. Wood treated with oil impregnation leaves an original, natural surface relief behind it. On the contrary, the lacquer completely aligns it, making the tree absolutely smooth.
Features of the work
First, preliminary sanding of the wood with medium-grained sandpaper is performed. Next shpalykuyut cracks. The surfaces are thoroughly cleaned and dried.
Using a rubber spatula, brush or roller, apply directly the wood oil for interior work. The colors of impregnations are selected based on the shade of wood. Cover the surface with a protective backing, applying the last thin, even layer. Excess impregnations usually remain on the surface. Therefore, in the future, they all have to be removed, which is equivalent to wasteful application of impregnation.
The oil is allowed to soak, after which the surfaces are polished manually. If it is necessary to handle impressive areas, resort to the use of grinding machines.
Finally, the wood is left alone for about 10-12 hours. After the specified time, wooden structures can be freely put into operation. Finally, it is worth noting that the surface treatment with varnish takes much longer and, as practice shows, the execution of works using this protective base is several times more expensive.
