Orange jam - a delicious dessert

Jam is a dessert, brewed from fruit or berries with the addition of sugar. Of course, today, such a delicacy is unlikely to surprise anyone, the stores sell a wide range of various jams. But still homemade jam is much tastier, and more useful, because when cooking this dessert mistresses do not use artificial ingredients.

Brew jam can be made from almost any berries or fruits. But if the usual raspberry or cherry delicacy seems a little ordinary, you can make a non-standard move and prepare an orange jam.

To prepare this dessert, you can use both refined and unrefined fruit. In the latter case, it is better to choose a sort of citrus with a thin skin, and before cooking, you need to carefully wash the oranges with a brush.

To make an orange jam on a classic recipe, we need a kilogram of oranges that need to be washed and cut off a piece of rind from the side of the stem. Then each orange is cut in half and remove all the bones. It is important not to let the bones fall into the jam, otherwise the dessert will turn out with an unpleasant bitterness. Then the prepared oranges are cut into smaller pieces - cubes or slices. When cutting oranges, a lot of juice is allocated, so you need to work with fruit over a cup or saucepan, so that precious drops do not vanish in vain.

Now let's prepare the syrup. At the indicated amount of oranges we need a half kilogram of sugar and two glasses of water. We put the syrup on the fire, bring it to a boil and remove the rising foam. Now put the prepared fruit into the syrup and pour out the juice collected when slicing citrus fruit. Cook the orange jam for two hours on a very small fire, stirring, so as not to burn. We thicken the jam on sterile jars and roll them up with lids. And you can and immediately after cooling to submit this delicious treat to tea.

Orange jam is boiled and with various additives. For example, a very tasty dessert is obtained if you take in equal amounts oranges (peeled) and apricots. And you can cook raw jam from oranges and gooseberries. This dessert is good because there is no heat treatment during its preparation, therefore, all vitamins from berries and fruits are kept better.

Prepare a jam simple. Take a kilogram of gooseberries and two oranges. Citrus my, remove the bones. Then we pass the berries and oranges through a meat grinder. The resulting aromatic puree is mixed with sugar (for this amount of fruit we need one kilogram of three hundred grams of sugar). Stir until sugar is dissolved. Then we spread jam into clean jars and cover with usual covers made of polyethylene. Keep this jam in the fridge.

But the orange jam, the recipe of which provides for the use of crusts from citrus. We collect a certain number of crusts from oranges, put them in a saucepan and fill them with water. Boil the crust for fifteen minutes, then drain the water, and pour the crusts with fresh boiling water and repeat the process two more times. Such repeated boiling helps to get rid of bitterness.

The boiled crusts are weighed, then crushed in a blender or meat grinder. To the resulting puree we add sugar in a ratio of one to one, that is, for half a kilo of crusts, we need five hundred grams of sugar. Cook the jam for forty minutes, then put it into the jars.

Very tasty is obtained and jam from a pumpkin with orange. For its preparation, we need a kilogram of pumpkin, peeled and diced, as for cooking porridge. Also it will be necessary to prepare two oranges, about a kilogram of granulated sugar and three to four grams of citric acid.

Sliced pumpkin with sugar (those who love sweet jam, can take 1-1.2 kg of sand, and those who prefer a less sweet taste, can be limited to 800 grams). We are waiting for several hours, until the pumpkin leaves the juice. Meanwhile, we clean the orange and cut it into cubes, collecting the juice. Put dishes with pumpkin on the fire, after the syrup boils, add an orange. We boil for five minutes, then turn off the heat and let the jam stand for 8-10 hours. Cook the dessert until ready for three or four meals, then pour into the cans.
