5G Internet in Russia: description, speed, specifications and reviews

5G-Internet is the latest technology, which is still at the development stage. From previous versions of mobile wireless Internet it is distinguished by high speed and signal quality.

What to expect from 5G

For us, the technology of 4G data transmission is not new for a long time. We passed both 3G, and data transfer using GPRS technology. Now we have reached 5G. What is the 5 Ji Internet? What's new in this technology? How many times will the data rate increase? When will it be available? What are its differences from its predecessors? In this article, we will take a closer look at each of the points.

What is 5G

5G - a technology for mobile data transmission of the fifth generation. The main differences of this technology from the same LTE - in the data transfer speed. If in 4G networks the maximum speed reached 1 gigabit per second, and even if the subscriber stands still, in the networks of the fifth generation the forecasted picture is much better. About 12 gigabits per second - this is the maximum declared speed in the networks of the fifth generation.
5G uses fundamentally new ways of transferring data. Therefore, for the widespread introduction of this technology will take years. And there is no sense now to implement 5G, when not in many places and 4G is available. And in some parts of Russia and 3G in the afternoon with fire you will not find. So, when it will be implemented 5G-Internet in Russia , it is not yet clear.

Equipment for such high-speed data transmission is developed by several companies. Notorious Samsung and Ericsson, as well as the young Japanese company NTT Docomo.

Approximate implementation time 5G

Whatever monsters such as Huawei, Ericsson and Samsung announced as early as last year, experts believe that the wait for 5G technology before 2020 is not worth it. Since for commercial use of technology it is necessary to develop a special standard for mobile communication. But the matter is long and troublesome.

Although Koreans from Samsung in 2008 said that it's time to move to 5G (although only 4G was being introduced), but "it's still there". Nothing adequate to accelerate the introduction of technology Samsung could not offer.

As for Russia, we have 5G going to introduce "MegaFon" in tandem with the Chinese from Huawei. According to their statements 5G-Internet in Russia will appear by 2018, but only in the testing mode. Full commercial use can begin by 2020.

But the good old MTS does not lag behind the competitor. Representatives of the company said that they will bring 5G to Russia with the help of the notorious company Ericsson. Well, who will be the first, we still look. But do not forget that it was Ericsson that achieved the data transfer speed of 5 gigabits per second as early as 2014. So at MTS and Ericsson all can turn out much faster.

What to expect after the introduction of 5G

Many people think that after the 5G-Internet appears in Russia, the speed of data transfer will increase at a time. Not certainly in that way. As soon as such a method of transmission appears, then in the first year of maximum speeds it will be difficult to achieve from it. Setup and running-in equipment, errors in the use of transmitters - all this will slow down the Internet. In addition, initially 5G will be available only in large metropolitan areas. Residents of regional centers do not have to count on high-speed communication for a long time. When there will be 5G-Internet to function normally and at them, then it will be possible to talk about high speeds. And this can take a long time.

There is an opinion that by the time of the World Cup in Moscow, 5G-Internet in Russia will already be present. Probably, as a bonus to World Cup. Well, it would be very good. In theory, you can watch online broadcasts from the championship in HD-quality without "brakes". Probably, this is expected.

For what you can use 5G

Why can I use a 5G transmission network? The speeds will be simply frantic, but that does not mean that they can be used only for downloading an HD movie in a minute. Thanks to 5G networks, you can develop "Internet of things". In constant access to the network will be billions of devices, and not only devices of ordinary users. All sorts of temperature sensors, medical equipment, sensors of city management systems, etc. All this will be possible to do thanks to a wide range and throughput of 5G networks.

Well, as for us, if 5G-Internet in Russia appears, it will take another one or two years to install and configure automatic control equipment for all the above-mentioned devices. After all, most people do not even suspect that this can be done and reduce the cost of the same public services at times.

Cons 5G

At this stage of development of high-speed Internet, prices for operators' services are simply cannibalistic. And this is the main disadvantage of both 4G and 5G Internet. LTE - is also not cheap fun, but the prices for few available functions of the 5G are just off scale. For example, in England recently appeared an Internet provider, which provides citizens with access to the network at a speed of 2 gigabit per second. And they give this joy for a "symbolic" fee of almost 200 pounds sterling. These are simply unthinkable prices. Not to mention the fact that there is nowhere to "pull" content at this speed. All over the world, only a few servers support this data transfer rate. But nevertheless, the reviews of those who tried the 5G-Internet, are exceptionally positive. It's hard to believe that this speed is possible for wireless communication.

And one more disadvantage is the high cost of the equipment, allowing to distribute content with such speed. Not all operators at the moment have enough finance to run such a network. And it's not a fact that the new "non-run-in" equipment will work as expected.

Conclusion

So, summing up, I want to say the following. 5G-Internet - of course, useful. The data transfer rate increases 10 times compared to 4G. But the introduction of it is being postponed until around 2020. 5G-Internet in Russia can appear a maximum for the World Cup, and then in Moscow alone. With the new data transmission technology, many aspects of our lives can be automated.

It's all pluses. And from the minuses you can note only the frenzied price for services and so few 5G Internet providers. There is hope, of course, that over time the price will normalize and take a less frightening appearance.

To draw any conclusions is too early. So you need to see how it all ends.
