Gypsum board ceilings in the bedroom: design features

Beginning the finishing of the ceiling in the bedroom, many seek to combine practicality and attractive appearance of the coating. To implement such an idea, you need the appropriate material. The best option today is a ceiling made of gypsum board with backlighting. Of course, you can mount another cover in the bedroom. Nevertheless, many owners of apartments and houses prefer GVL sheets. Next, we'll figure out how to make the gypsum board ceilings in the bedroom with your own hands.

Advantages of coating

Gypsum plasterboard ceilings in the bedroom, photos of which are presented in the article, are easy to assemble. In addition, the material allows you to implement a wide variety of design ideas. The sheets themselves are light in weight. This allows you to produce two-, three-level ceilings from plasterboard in the bedroom. One of the main advantages of the material is that it can produce a perfectly flat surface, which can later be decorated in various ways.

Design Features

Any ceilings of plasterboard in the bedroom, regardless of the number of levels, are mounted on the frame. Its elements are metal profiles. To fix drywall to the surface, also use glue or special plaster. But for a suspended structure it is better to use a metal frame. So it will be more reliable. Elements of the base are fixed on the ceiling using special suspensions. These elements, in turn, are attached to the ceiling by anchor bolts. Their strength will ensure a reliable retention of the mass, which will have the whole structure. The frame from the underside is covered with sheets of plasterboard. On the side surfaces (if the design is multilevel), bands from the same GVL are fixed. After the plating has been completed, the plasterboard ceilings in the bedroom are shpatlyuyutsya. Further the finish coat is applied. As it can act paint, wallpaper or decorative plaster. In many design projects, built-in lighting is provided. In such cases, the wires are laid in the space between the overlap and the suspension structure. Then the cables are connected to the luminaires.

Necessary materials

To make the ceilings of plasterboard in the bedroom, you should prepare:

  • Sheets GVL. Some masters prefer to use a moisture resistant material. But, as a rule, in the bedrooms it is enough to mount a conventional drywall. If a multi-level construction is planned, it is recommended to purchase the material with a reserve. It is about 20% of the required quantity. As practice shows, most of the residues are formed when finishing the side surfaces.
  • Starting profile. It will be fixed around the perimeter of the room.
  • The main profile.
  • Suspension. Usually the installation of the structure is carried out at a distance of about 10 cm from the ceiling. In this regard, you can purchase standard plate hangers.
  • Fasteners. They are self-cutters for metal and for gypsum board, as well as dowels with plastic sleeves.
  • Putty. It is necessary for sealing joints.

To mount the backlight you need:

  • Wires for wiring.
  • Recessed lighting fixtures.
  • Corrugated pipes for wires.

Project Options

Ceilings from plasterboard to the bedroom can be very different. The simplest, of course, is a one-level design. But in this case, you can realize any intentions only with the help of the color scheme and the actual highlighting. Much more interesting, but also more difficult, of course, multi-level designs. For example, on the perimeter of the room you can install a box of GVL. It is mounted on the backlight of LED or fluorescent lights on the control panel. A design is also popular, in which a circle is mounted along the center of the overlap. It also incorporates backlighting. A combination of different materials is also common. For example, a gypsum plasterboard and stretch ceiling are often installed. In this case, suspended elements are installed along the perimeter. In the center of the ceiling, a cloth or vinyl sheet is stretched.

Installation

As stated above, the plasterboard ceilings in the bedroom are installed on the frame. To fix it, you must first make a markup. To do this, you need to find the lowest point of the ceiling. From it measured down 10 cm. Using the level draws the baseline. Then, using a perforator, holes are drilled to fix the starting profile. To fix it, dowels are used. This profile will be the basis for the entire frame. Throughout the ceiling, further lines are made, the distance between which is 30-40 cm. Suspensions are attached to them. Having bent their "tails" downwards, it is necessary to fix the main profiles. If the construction is 1-level, then the frame installation is finished. To fix the second tier, you should use either lengths from the main profile, or suspensions of a longer length. At this stage, the lighting wires are also laid. Cables are hiding in corrugated pipes. To fix the wires on the suspensions, plastic clamps should be used.

Sheathing

Before fixing the sheets on the frame, they must be adjusted to fit the size. Cut drywall with a saw with small teeth or a knife. On the areas where it is supposed to install the fixtures, it is necessary to make holes. Next, the sheets of gypsum board are fixed on the frame with the help of self-tapping screws. They need to be slightly inundated in the material. The lateral parts of the multi-level structure are clad with the corresponding elements. To protect the corners it is recommended to mount a molding from a special perforated metal. After the end of the work on fastening the sheets, joints and hats of self-tapping screws are shpatched. Then proceed to the finish finish.
