First generation A31

The car "Nissan-Cefiro" of the first generation was produced for 6 years from 1988 to 1994. In production, he was given the A31 index. Externally, it was very similar to the Laurel model, the assembly of which was started back in 1968. The dimensions of the A31 fully corresponded to the business class: the body length was 4765 mm, the width was 1705 mm, but the height was not very large - only 1375 mm. If we consider the technical characteristics of Cefiro, then, in principle, they were no different from the already well-known business class cars: Nissan Skyline, Nissan Laurel, Nissan Silvia.

The first generation was remembered for motorists through the introduction of a five-speed automatic transmission (APKK). At that time it was still a novelty, however, according to the drivers, quite pleasant. As for the suspension both front and rear, it was borrowed from the model of this segment of Skyline GT-R.

The engines "Nissan-Cefiro" A31 were represented by units from 2 to 2.5 liters. Also on the car installed engines with a turbo. A31 was equipped with a full and rear drive. Thanks to these characteristics, the car began to be widely used in informal street racing. Almost immediately after the release, he was given a cult status.

The second generation A32

In 1994, a completely updated model of the Nissan-Cefiro with the A32 index was presented to motorists. The first thing that caught my eye was the enlarged dimensions, thanks to which the interior of the car became more spacious and, as a result, comfortable. Right-hand drives were collected for domestic consumption, but after the opening of the Russian market, the company began to specifically produce models with the left rudder. To the domestic buyer these copies were presented under the name Nissan Maxima.

Technical characteristics of the A32 model for the Russian market

The second generation of "Cefiro" became front-wheel drive, as it was decided to completely abandon other options. The cars were equipped with two types of units:

  • The two-liter engine allowed to give out the maximum indicator of capacity of 155 horsepowers;
  • Power plant for 3 liters - 193 hp

Transmission - mechanics and automatic. Safety fuses "Nissan-Cefiro": Fuse b, d, e, f, 60, 61, 62, 63, 64, 65, 66; Automatic - Circuit Breaker 1 and 2. Models with an engine 3.0 show aerodynamic properties comparable to sports cars.

The Nissan Cefiro A32 for the European market

The Japanese company supplied this model to Europe with three types of engines. These were 24-valve units in volume 2, 2.5 and 3 liters. The last power plant allowed the driver to count on the power of 220 horses. Equipment APKK prevailed in these cars. It's worth noting that Nissan introduced a new color design. The second generation of the "Zephito" model was mostly produced in quiet shades. From bright colors it was decided to completely abandon. The car came off the assembly line in two types of bodywork: a sedan and a station wagon. The model was withdrawn from production in 1998.

Third Generation A33

"Nissan-Tsefiro" A33 - the third and last generation of this line. The updated models went on sale in 1998. Their assembly lasted 5 years until 2003. During the restyling, the company placed a great emphasis on comfortable conditions, both for the driver and passengers. The interior used expensive finishing materials, the color scheme perfectly emphasized the belonging to the business class. Overall dimensions: 4785x1780x1440 mm. The capacity of the luggage compartment is 525 liters.

Technical equipment has also undergone restyling. The third generation was equipped with two types of motors: VQ25DD (maximum capacity - 210 horses) and VQ20DE (160 horsepower limit). These units allowed the driver and passengers inside the car to fully experience the sporting character and excellent dynamics. Taking into account the responses of car owners, we can say that at the time this model was one of the most popular. It was the A33 platform that was later used for the Infiniti I car.

In Australia, sales of the third generation of the Nissan-Cephiro model ended a year earlier in 2002. But in Bangladesh and Malaysia, the A33 is still manufactured.

Reviews of car owners

Numerous car owners have long drawn conclusions about the Nissan Cefiro model. It is worth noting that mostly positive reviews predominate. Many, having relocated to this car, immediately could feel the comfort. There is a lot of space in the salon. Passengers on the back seat do not feel any embarrassment, even those whose growth is equal to two meters.

Owners who bought a car with a right-hand drive, first experience some discomfort. However, this is a matter of habit. During the movement, the Nissan-Cefiro can be compared with an airplane: it is so powerful that it has an engine. Noise isolation in the cabin is excellent, extraneous sounds are completely inaudible. In general, there are no shortcomings in this model.
