Mucous discharge in women - normal and pathological

Gynecologists distinguish the category of patients who panic at the slightest color change and the consistency of the vaginal discharge. The trouble is that frightened women themselves prescribe themselves a course of treatment. Meanwhile, mucosal discharge in women is not a symptom of the disease.

There is an era of total medical intervention in human life. In this regard, treating a healthy vagina with powerful drugs will be a crime.

Each mucosa produces a characteristic physiological secret.

What does mucus in women consist of?

The cervix has a cervical canal with glands. The glands of the canal actively produce mucus. The epithelium of the vagina and cervix regularly self-cleaning, and the cells that have fallen off need to leave the organ along with the mucus.

An average disciplined patient who is interested in the condition of the childbearing system will call 1-2 bacteria from the category of the vaginal flora without hesitation. In fact, sterile microorganisms inhabit the uterus, fallopian tubes and ovaries. They are represented by 5-12 species and are always present in mucus, thereby maintaining an optimal healthy environment.

What are the mucous discharge in women

Appearance of excretions depends on the hormonal background of the body, on the age of the woman, on the intensity of sexual intercourse and on other important factors.

A year before the start of menstruation, girls notice white mucus discharge. In women, nature warns about the transition to the "girl" state. Sometimes the discharge has a liquid consistency, yellow tinge, sour smell. Hence, the mucous membrane is ready to protect the sexual organs from infection and is actively moistened. In pathogenic changes, white mucus discharge in women and girls is accompanied by itching, pain, burning, redness and outflow of the external genitalia.

Regular menstrual cycles began. Vaginal discharge will now change depending on the phase of the menstrual cycle.

The cycle begins on the first day of the month. The first phase with a cycle of 28 days ends on 12 or 13 days. After menstruation, there are uninvolved watery or mucous discharges.

The second phase lasts a couple of days in the middle of the menstrual cycle, when ovulation occurs. The volume of precipitations increases, the color can change to a beige shade.

Further to the beginning of menstruation, the secretory phase passes. The consistency of the discharge becomes creamy, and the volume increases, which is especially noticeable a few days before menstruation.

Mucus brown discharge

The presence of a brown hue in the discharge indicates a bloody addition to the mucus. It is noticed that cinnamon secretions appear in the first months of the course of taking hormonal contraceptives. One to two days before menstruation or after a brown discharge does not cause anxiety, if there is no pain, itching and unpleasant odor. Otherwise, we are talking about pathology.

Chronic endometritis marks mucous brown discharge, usually with an unpleasant odor. It happens that bloody mucus appears in the days of ovulation against the background of pain in the lower abdomen.

Dark bloody discharge accompanies endometriosis. The smearing character of the discharge is acquired at the end of the cycle before or after menstruation, with endometrial hyperplasia. The appearance of hyperplasia is more likely after the transferred gynecological diseases, abortions, surgeries.

Brown mucous discharge in women can be a sign of the appearance of a polyp in the uterus. The formation of the polyp contributes to the pathology of the uterine mucosa. Negative changes occur against a background of chronic inflammatory processes or hormonal disorders.

Especially dangerous are the brown discharge that appeared during pregnancy, as a sign of detachment of the placenta, even the fetal egg.

So, brown discharge warns of danger, only an examination of a qualified doctor will help to establish a diagnosis.
