Metro station "Yugo-Zapadnaya". History of occurrence

The metro station "Yugo-Zapadnaya" was opened in 1963, at present it is the terminal station of the Sokolnicheskaya Line. The station next to it is "Prospekt Vernadskogo". In the near future this branch of the metro will be completed, it will no longer be the final destination, next to it will be located station "Troparevo".

The name of the metro station "Yugo-Zapadnaya" was received in honor of the Moscow district of the same name, in which it is located. Its project name is "Directions No. 3758". The track development of the station includes 4 turnouts, 2 station tracks for sideways and reversal of rolling stock, as well as cross-over.

Metro Yugo-Zapadnaya refers to small-scale stations. It is located only at a depth of 8 meters. The columns are decorated with white marble, and the travel walls are faced with ceramic glazed tiles of a light green hue. The ceiling has a ribbed shape, behind it neatly hidden fixtures.

From its vestibules you can go to the city to Vernadsky Avenue, as well as to Pokryshkin streets and 26 Baku commissars. Near the station there is a bus park, from which you can go to Naro-Fominsk, Odintsovo, Krasnoznamensk, Taraskovo or Aprelevka. Also very good is the city public transport, where you can reach the surrounding areas.

The following specialists worked on the subway project "Yugo-Zapadnaya": Tararzhinskaya, Shmelnik, Shchepikhin and Golovinova. This is a column three-span station. The columns are arranged in 2 rows every 4 meters. In total there are 80 of them, the distance between the rows is 5.9 m. It has one island platform of rectangular shape.

Nearby it is planned to build also the final light metro station (with the same name). It will be located at the corner of Koshtoyants street and Vernadsky prospect. Both stations will have to form a transfer junction between themselves, so that people from remote areas can get to work faster.

The metro station "Yugo-Zapadnaya" is near very many educational institutions. Nearby are MGIMO and PFUR, MPA and other educational institutions. There are also plenty of places for shopping, recreation and entertainment.
