Medicinal black is one of more than 80 representatives of the genus Chernokoren, which is a member of the Burachnikov family. As soon as they do not call it among the people: a rat-rat, scrofulous grass, night blindness, burdock , a lunatic, a thunderbolt, a living grass, etc. The appearance of a plant can not be called attractive, so it is grown only to repel rodents and insects. For centuries, the healing properties of this poisonous plant have been used in the treatment of many diseases.

Appearance

The scientific name of the medicinal blackcorn is translated from Greek as "doggy language". The lower leaves of the plant are similar to the dog's tongue: they are also elongated (15-20 cm) and rough. The plant has a straight, branching to the top of the stem, up to one meter high, but more often the plant has a height of about 50 cm. The color of the root is not reflected in the name of the blackcore, it is brown.

From May to June, the top of the stem is decorated with dark purple or violet small flowers, located on the pedicels. The fruit looks like four small prickly thorns and a nut connected together. You can meet the medicinal black patch in the Caucasus, Central Asia and the European part of Siberia, Ukraine and Belarus. It grows in hilly and stony areas with infertile calcareous soil, as well as along roads.

In the past, folk healers advised the use of medicinal black grass from many diseases. And the leaves, flowers, fruits, and plant roots were used. For example, healers believed that if you hang the root of his neck, you can get rid of the headache. Decoction of leaves, roots and flowers of the plant was prescribed for stomach and intestinal pain, diarrhea, convulsions, purulent processes, lung diseases. On ulcers, wounds, swelling and burns, as well as snake and dog bites made lotions.

Today, the use of medicinal blackcore for medical purposes is not so popular. This is due in part to the presence of poisonous substances in it, and partly to the fact that more effective and safe ways of treating these diseases have been found. However, the medicine of some countries, for example, Tibetan, still often resorts to the help of the medicinal blackcore. Mostly it is used externally for rheumatism, tumors, bone fractures, adipes, abscesses and wounds.

The digging out of the healing root is usually practiced either in late summer or early autumn. All you need to do is clean it well and dry it with good circulation of air masses. From May to June, the leaves and flowers of the plant are collected for further drying.

Repeller of mice and insects

Although the application of the plant in medicine today has lost its former relevance, now, as before, use the medicinal black patch from mice and insects. Rodents do not tolerate its odor, so do not approach the site of its localization. They say that ship rats rush into the sea, smelling the smell of this plant, and if there is no escape to the rodents, they will die. Aphids and caterpillars also do not like this plant.

Numerous reviews confirm that in the fight against rodent pests it is very practical to use medicinal black cherry. Growing this plant in the garden protects fruit trees from sabotage. You can also pour dry parts of a crushed plant into the root zone before winter or water it with infusion. In addition, roots and grass plants are often used to protect against rodents of cereals and own dwellings. In the past, for this purpose, small lozenges of powdered blackcurrant, mixed with lard and bread, were scattered in the room.

In autumn, beekeepers often lay out the roots and grass of the plant in the omshanika, so that the mice could not get into the hive. And if you plant a medicinal blackbread near the apiary, you can achieve a double effect. First, to protect it from the invasion of rodents, and, secondly, to improve honey collection.

Peculiarities of growing

Growing dog grass near valuable trees or near the house are rescued from rodents and insects, and also meet their medical needs, but it is not suitable for decoration. Appearance of the medicinal blackcore is not the most pleasant of all representatives of the genus Chernokornei, many of which also frighten off rodents. In order to grow the medicinal medicinal in the right place next year, the seeds must be harvested as soon as they are ripe.

Planting of seeds is carried out in early spring. Some gardeners recommend that the plant be propagated not with seeds, but with kidneys. They believe that it is better not to give the plant fruit. The rat-rat, as it is called in the people, loves calcareous soil and sunlight. It tolerates cold and drought well.

Mainly medicinal black patch is used today to protect against rodents and insects. Until now, treatment with it is practiced. Use kryosgon for medical purposes should be extremely cautious, since it is toxic. When you see the plant on the road or on some hill, it will be easy for you to identify it, paying attention to the leaves that look like a dog's tongue, and small dark purple or purple flowers. In autumn, in their place, you can see the spiked fruit in the form of nuts, collected in groups of four.
