Everyone knows that the most delicious is the food that is cooked at home. That is why in this article I want to talk about how it is possible to tasty marinate herring at home: what is needed for this and how to do it right.

Option 1. In Korean

So, to make pickled herring turned out delicious, you can try to pick it up in a way "in Korean." To do this, you need to stock up on the following ingredients:

  1. 1 kg of fish (if there is no herring, you can take sardine, mackerel, pangasius or pelengas).
  2. A pound of onions.
  3. A teaspoonful of red and black ground peppers.
  4. One tablespoon of salt.
  5. One tablespoon of tomato paste.
  6. Approximately 2-3 tablespoons of vinegar.
  7. Half a cup of vegetable oil (you can both usual, sunflower, and olive).

Cooking method

So, to pickled herring with onions turned out beautiful, it must first be divided: separate the head, fins, tail, remove the spine and bones. There is only one fish fillet, which is cut into pieces, salted, seasoned (red and black pepper), "smeared" with tomato paste. At this stage, you need to prepare a bow: for this, it is cut into half rings (do not be afraid to go too far with this ingredient, the bigger the bow, the better). When everything is ready, the fish is filled with vegetable oil, vinegar and covered with onions. All this is placed in the refrigerator. After three hours the dish can be served on the table. However, it will be much tastier if the fish stays in the marinade until the morning.

Method 2. Marinating without vinegar

It should be said that the pickled herring can be cooked without vinegar. In this case, you need to buy fresh-frozen fish (in such quantity that it fit in a three-liter can), and also to prepare salt (250 g), sweet pepper and bay leaves (several pieces), sugar (3 tbsp). The process of preparation consists of the following stages:

  1. Fresh-frozen fish should be thoroughly washed under running water, you do not need to clean it.
  2. Then the fish densely folds into the jar, all the previously prepared ingredients are poured in, everything is poured with cold boiled water.
  3. The bottle is closed with a cap cap, shaken well, so that salt and sugar are dissolved.
  4. All this will be infused at room temperature. After staying a day, the salted herring will be ready, after two days the fish will salted more strongly.
  5. After full preparation, everything is stored in the refrigerator for a maximum of 10 days.

Method 3: With vinegar

What else can be a herring marinated at home? Why not learn how to cook it with vinegar? For this, you need to stock up about two to three kilograms of fish, as well as brine. It can be prepared from the following ingredients: water (half-liter), vinegar (30 ml), salt (100 g), spices to taste (pepper, bay leaf, etc.). Begin cooking with the preparation of fish. It is thawed, thoroughly washed under running water. Next, you need to boil water, fill it with salt and spices. When the brine cool down a little, vinegar is added there. Next, the fish should be folded so that the brine completely covers it. As for the time of pickling, if the herring is brushed and cut into pieces, it will be ready in about 5 hours. If the fish gets salted completely, there will be it in 12 hours.

Method 4: Dry pickling

Interesting for many will be the fact that the pickled herring can be cooked on the principle of dry marinating. To do this, you need to stock up one of the following fish species: pink salmon, carp, pelengas in the amount of 1 kg. The fish is cleaned, only the stickies should remain, which are poured with a mixture of the following ingredients: salt and sugar (1 tablespoon), black pepper (ground - 0.5 tablespoons). The fish mix well, add a bay leaf, all this is placed in a cool place under the press. In a day, when the fish is well salted, vegetable oil is added to it . Method 5. Carrot-lemon

And one more way how to pickle herring. We will use a carrot-lemon marinade. To do this, you need the following ingredients: fish (1 piece), carrots (1 piece), half a lemon, one onion, a tablespoon of soy sauce and in the same amount of vegetable oil. First, the fish is prepared: it needs to be thoroughly washed and cleaned of bones so that only the stickies remain. For onion marinade it is necessary to clean onion, cut into half rings. Carrots are also cleaned and rubbed on a grater for Korean carrots. Everything is mixed thoroughly with hands, then soy sauce is added. In the mixture are placed pieces of fish, also there are added slices of lemon cut into quarters. The dish is soaked for about 5 hours, but for a more saturated taste, you can leave the fish marinated for the whole night. Delicious herring, marinated at home, ready for consumption!
