Sealant for bathroom

An important stage of repair work in the bathroom is the processing of seams and cracks. The bath tightener serves for such purposes. To avoid the appearance of mold due to high humidity, you should choose a high-quality product.

Sealant for the bathroom reliably seals all cracks and seams and protects from the formation of fungus. Even a small leak creates a condensation on the pipes, increasing the humidity in the bathroom. Formed mold can cause allergies and provoke respiratory diseases.

All, even the slightest, seams between the wall and the bathroom or near the pipes are subject to mandatory processing. For today the choice of various materials is wide enough. Acrylic and silicone products are used for the treatment of joints in a moist and warm room.

Silicone sealants

This is the most popular type of suture. This is a reliable and durable building material for use in rooms such as a bathroom. Silicone sealants can be of different colors, but the most common are white and transparent.

They are acid and neutral. Acid sealants are used in the processing of wood, ceramics or plastic. Neutral silicone products do not have a sharp acidic odor, so they are advisable to use for repairing plumbing and for sealing seams in the bathroom.

Acrylic Sealants

This tool is excellent for work on sealing seams and cracks. Acrylic sealant for the bathroom should be selected water resistant, reliably withstand high humidity and temperature changes.

Acrylic and silicone materials are used for various purposes. If the cracks are large, it is recommended to use acrylic sealant, and small seams - to seal silicone. This acrylic product is less durable than silicone, it should be periodically updated. Although silicone materials do not always cope with mildew, especially in the absence of a good ventilation system.

Expensive and quality bath sealant usually serves much longer than a relatively cheap product, so when choosing a product, you should pay attention to the firm that produces this product.

Hermetic two-component and one-component

The two-component seam treatment agent may consist of a main component and an activator, which is a catalyst for curing or vulcanization. This differs from the one-component one, the solidification of which takes place in the air.

The activating component is added to the main one before use, after which thorough mixing is carried out during the time specified by the instruction.

The catalyst and the base are never stored in the same package, but are sold in different buckets. To apply a two-component sealant, use a spatula and a special drill for mixing.

Two-component sealants freeze for a while and are reliable in operation, but there is a possibility of incorrect dosing during mixing, which affects the quality of the mixture. Sometimes manufacturers complete sets of dosage containers for more accurate determination of a single portion for both components.

Most often, a two-component polyurethane sealant for the bathroom is used to treat cracks and joints that are highly deformed.

Polyurethane single component agents are not cost effective in production, because they are very expensive raw materials. Production should be carefully prepared, equipped with expensive equipment and highly professional control. Their prime cost, for this reason, forces them to sell them at a price that exceeds by two times the cost of similar two-component funds.

Choosing a sealant, it is desirable not to ignore the material two-component only because it is necessary to mix its components - this inconvenience is completely compensated by price and properties.
