"Long road in the dunes": actors, roles, history of creation

The film "A long road in the dunes", the actors of which told a touching story of two heroes who survived many historical and personal cataclysms, but preserved love for each other, was filmed in the 80s. And became the favorite film of many women of the Soviet Union. How was the film created and how did you conquer Soviet TV viewers?

The film "The long road in the dunes": actors and roles (1980)

Some of the main roles in the series were entrusted to Lithuanian actors. At the same time, the creators of the film "The long road in the dunes" were mostly Latvian. Of course, many were not enthusiastic about this decision of the director, but the director of the film was firm in his decisions.

The series was released by the Riga film studio and had such amazing success as "Seventeen Moments of Spring", "Eternal Call" or "Shadows disappear at noon".

Music for the film was written by the famous composer Raymond Pauls, and directed by Alois Brench (Keys from Paradise, Mirage).

As for the plot, it touches on the eternal themes for humanity: the love of two people, who are prevented by all sorts of prejudices or class differences. The grief-romance of Marta and Arthur stretched out for a long 40 years. And when the heroes finally met after a long separation, they can not understand why their fates were so foolish. All that remains for them is to regret the lost years.

Actors and roles of the film "A long road in the dunes": Lilita Ozolina

Lilita Ozolina, born in 1947 in Riga, is a very famous Latvian actress. The girl grew up in the family of a test pilot. Her mother worked as an assistant at one of the studios, so she drove her girl to screen tests from the age of ten.

As a child, Lilita was never lucky to appear in a movie, but the girl did not abandon this venture and entered the studio of a film actor at the Riga film studio.

In 1967, the girl made her film debut in another film by Aloise Branca - "When the Rain and the Wind Knock Out the Window". Then there were a few more film works and, finally, "A long road in the dunes".

Actors of the film literally woke up famous after the series appeared on the screens. In the period from the 80's to the 90's. Lilita had a lot of acting. But after the collapse of the Soviet Union, cinema was going through hard times, so Ozolina concentrated all her energies on the theater.

But to this day, the role of the protagonist of the film "The long road in the dunes" - Marta is better than the role of an actress.

Juozas Kiselius

Juozas Kiselius is a Lithuanian actor who embodied the image of Arthur Bangui, the beloved Martha.

The creators of the film debated a long time about whether it is worth giving the main role in the Latvian film to the Lithuanian. But the picture "Long road in the dunes", the actors who fell in love with the viewer, came out with the participation of Juozas Kiselius. His candidacy was defended by director Brench personally.

Juozas preferred the drama theater and was rarely shot in the movies. In all his career, Kiselius participated in only 18 films. "Long expensive in the dunes," in which the actor played the role of an honest romantic, became his happy and at the same time unhappy ticket to the big cinema, because after this picture Kiselius was offered mostly similar roles. Perhaps, that is why he did not hurry to return to the screen and agreed to withdraw from the force once a year.

In 1991, Juozas died in a hospital in Vilnius from a ruptured aorta at the age of 41 years.

Romualdas Ramanauskas

The role of the villain Richard Lozberg in the film was played by the actor of the National Dramatic Theater of Lithuania Romualdas Ramanauskas. It is Richard Lozberg, the son of a wealthy factory owner, that causes Arthur Banga and Martha to part. In the best traditions of melodramas, the main heroine is forced to marry a rascal, but from her former lover she has an illegitimate child.

The film "Long road in the dunes", the actors in which told a touching love story that lasted 40 years, for Romualdas was the seventh film in which he played the role of a negative character. The role of the scoundrel and scoundrel further firmly entrenched the actor: for his life Ramanauskas played in 33 films, but the role of positive character can be counted on the fingers.

In 2015, Romualdas turned 65 years old. The last film project in which he participated was "War and Peace" by Robert Dornhelm, as well as the comedy "Bank of Jam", filmed in Lithuania in 2009.

Edward Pavuls

Edward Pavuls for the role of Father Martha was awarded the State Prize of the USSR. His character, Jacob Ozols, along with the main characters Martha and Arthur, in the period from the 40's to 80's. Suffered much. First, he was unfairly accused of arson, then Jakob, as a former starost of a German-occupied village, had to hide from Soviet soldiers who had returned to their land.

Actor Eduard Pavuls is a rather prominent figure in the cinema. He started filming in Soviet films since 1957. Over the course of his career he has played more than fifty screen roles. In 1986, Pavul even lit up in the legendary picture of Danelia "Kin-dza-dza". His last role was played by the actor 6 years before his death in the film "The Mystery of the Old Rule". In 2006, Pavus died.
