Brian Kirk is a veteran of the "Game of Thrones", a talented visionary

Irish film and television director B. Kirk is best known to the public as the creator of individual series in significant television projects of our time: The Game of Thrones, Luther, Tudors, Underground Empire and Dexter.

Brief biographical facts

Brian Kirk was born in 1968 in the smallest number of people residing in it, but proudly wearing the status of the capital of the county, the town of Armagh in Northern Ireland. Since Armagh was and is the most important religious center of the region, the child was brought up in strictness, without excesses. What was the future talented director-TV-singer in the childhood - assiduous know-it-all or restless boy-bully, for certain it is not known. One thing is certain: from an early age he was interested in the world of cinema and television. After receiving the appropriate education, the matured Brian Kirk in 1998 begins his creative development with the creation of short films "Doll" and "Billy and Zorba."

Climb to glory

His creative career as television director Brian Kirk began in 2002 with the comedy show "Now it does not matter," in which he created two issues. Then he was invited by the producers as a director in the British detective TV series "The Law of Murphy", which tells of the police-Irishman Tommy Murphy. His visionary skills continued to improve in the television films Donovan and Veselandia.

In 2006, he was shooting his first full-length feature film, the drama "Middletown." In the film, the author boldly criticizes the actions and attitude towards the reality of the humble Catholic preacher Gabriel, who, as it turns out later, has serious problems with the psyche. The film receives the 2nd place from the jury of the film festival Galway Film Fleadh, and a year later becomes the winner of the Irish Film and Television Awards. Separate critics claimed that the director's vision of Kirk's events, covered in Middletown, reflected the childhood years spent in Armagh.

Return to TV

Ironically, but after the success of Middletown, Brian Kirk again changes films to serials. In 2007, the author manages to create separate episodes for the TV projects "Wealth", "Tudors" and "Brotherhood".

However, Kirk's breakthrough as a director is considered to be the TV movie "My Boy Jack", which the visionary took off in 2007 as well. Kinodrama is a screen version of the play of D. Haig and tells the story of the world-famous writer Rudyard Kipling and his son John, who laid down his head in the battles of the First World War. In the lead roles in the film starred David Haig, Daniel Radcliffe and Kim Cattrall. The picture was enthusiastically received by critics, especially all praises were awarded to performers roles of male key characters. The skill of Kim Cattrall, demonstrated in the project, was awarded more controversial feedback. The film has a high rating IMDb: 7.30 and a lot of awards, among which are the BAFTA, Golden FIPA and Magnolia Award. After this tape, Brian Kirk, whose photo was adorned with the editorials of the media, became famous.

In Game"

In subsequent years, Brian Kirk remains one of the most sought after directors on TV, takes part in the creation of the series "Father and Son", "Dexter", "Luther", "Underground Empire". In 2011, he becomes one of the directors of the first season of the cult series "The Game of Thrones". The director creates three episodes: "The Wolf and the Lion", "Cripples, Bastards and Broken Things" and "Lord Snow" when he receives an offer from the producers of the forthcoming television film "Great Hopes". Bryan succumbs to their persistent requests and leaves the "Game of Thrones."

In the same year, he claimed to be the director of the movie "Tor 2: The Kingdom of Darkness", but due to financial and creative differences, no agreement was reached with the studio, so the project was directed by Kirk's colleague on "The Game of Thrones" Alan Taylor. Due to the tight schedule of filming the TV movie "The Golden Lilies", Brian also failed to return to directing the third season of "The Game".

For some time the director was fascinated with the development of the space drama "Passengers", and the main role the creators were going to invite Keanu Reeves. As a result, the film was shot by Morten Tildum, and the role of the central character was performed by Chris Pratt.

"Narcosubmarine"

Perhaps, shortly the filmography of Brian Kirk will be supplemented by a project, somewhat protracted at the development stage. Tony Scott, now retired, began work on it, then for a long time the director's place was vacant. Most recently it became known that the filmmaking process will be led by Kirk, and the main role will be played by the ageless Liam Neeson. According to the idea of the creators, the thriller "Narkosubmarina" narrates about the disgraced US Navy officer, whom circumstances force to conduct a submarine with cocaine past the brave coast guard. Produced by the project will be Ridley Scott, Anutan Fukua and Doug Lyman, they gave preference to Brian. It remains to be hoped that the fans of the visionary's creativity have to wait for the premiere not for long.
