Literate speech is the first sign of an educated and cultured person

The paradox of today's day is that with a giant leap forward in the field of the development of science and technology, society in the post-Soviet space is moving backward in the same leaps and bounds in the field of education and general literacy. For this there are both objective and subjective reasons. The first can be attributed to experiments with the reshuffling of school programs, the lack of uniformity in curricula and manuals for studying subjects, unsuccessful forms of taking exams, the general decline in the prestige of education and the formation of a strong stereotype in schoolchildren: "Education is paid. I have paid. I have to assess for this alone. Especially, we have to give bribes, i.е. I pay at a double rate. Consequently, there is no point in poring over objects and textbooks! "

And to the second - first of all, the loss of interest in books, reading of fiction. And, strangely enough, communication through SMS, in various chat rooms, on different forums. Anonymity, informal environment and speed of correspondence force people to neglect punctuation marks, think through the structure of their posts and posts, and "filter" the vocabulary used. And sometimes there is a situation that is very suitable for the famous "execution can not be pardoned".

The main features of literate speech

So, first of all, it is necessary to remember and understand: literate speech provides us with full communication and successful understanding in this or that situation, whether it is talking with superiors, discussing the burning problems of public life or resolving domestic conflict. If there is no understanding, if people seem to speak different languages, they will not come to the common denominator. A clumsy speech with many stylistic errors is capable of reducing even the most careful efforts to "no".

  • Literate speech is free from the words "parasites". In people with a small vocabulary, they are very often found and used to fill pauses, during which such a person tries to find the right word or expression. To words of this type belong all known "type of", "like", "e", "well" and so on.
  • Literate speech is not very compatible with abusive words, the more obscene. No matter how decent a person is dressed, no matter how respectable he looks and about what high matter he does not reason, but if he generously peps up his speech with a mat, and uses a blunt scolding for a bunch of words, he does not take on the role of a cultural, intelligent one. Of course, there are situations when unregulated vocabulary is in place, but they, fortunately, are quite rare. In everyday life, literate speech and verbal mud are incompatible.
  • Jargon should not clog your language. An exception is made only for the professional sphere, when terminology is necessary and simplifies communication. In other cases, you should refer to synonyms.
  • Always remember Chekhov's dictum of brevity and talent. After all, literacy of speech is, among other things, masterful command of words, ability to choose the most precise, clear expressions, to speak on business and it is understandable.
  • Pay attention not only to the richness of your lexical stock, but also to the culture of speech etiquette. Try to build sentences and statements not "anyhow", but in accordance with the norms and rules of punctuation and the style of the Russian language, if you speak it, or any other one on which you communicate.
  • A competent statement of speech includes observing the norms of accent, lowering and increasing the tone in different parts of sentences, the ability to withstand logical and intonational pauses, and to observe intonation. As a matter of fact, this is oratory, and every self-respecting person should own it.

Afterword

Work on yourself - it's always difficult, whether it's about the harmony of a figure or the learning of a foreign language. It is equally difficult to learn how to speak perfectly. But probably! What is needed for this? Of course, read, and, above all, Russian classics. Make your reference books sensible and spelling dictionaries, phraseological and dictionaries of synonyms, antonyms, other reference literature. Constantly engage in word formation. Control yourself in the forms of verbal expression.
