Childhood

Lemmy Kilmister was born in 1945 in England, in the city of Stoke-on-Trent. When the boy was only 3 months old, his father, who was a chaplain of the air force, divorced from the mother of our hero. The family moved to Newcastle under Lime.

Wanting to do more, our hero in 1967 went to London. He became a manager in the band The Jimi Hendrix Experience. Joined in 1968 to Sam Gopal, recorded the record Escalator, as well as the single Horse. After the meeting of our hero with Simon King took place on the territory of the Chelsea shopping center, he became a member of the Opal Butterfly group. So began his professional career Lemmy Kilmister. Quotations from an interview of that time indicate that it was at this time that he came to the idea of taking the surname of his stepfather. Hawkwind

Lemmy Kilmister joined the space rock band in 1971. Thanks to the experience he gained earlier, he played bass on a rhythm guitar, thereby strengthening the overall drive.

Bryan Town noted that the real headache was to keep the wild bass player on disciplinary boundaries, to force him to come to concerts, and then how to play there. However, the effort paid off when the musician climbed the stage, as he brought with himself an energy storm in image and sound. The unique style of playing, as well as singing in a high-raised microphone over the years became Kilmister's "handwriting." It was with our hero that the band recorded the strongest, as well as the most famous albums.

Changes in the composition led to a radical change in the sound of the collective. Hawkwind retained the blues-fatal psychedelia, but consistently toughened and increased rhythm. However, the turning point for the band was the release of a single called Silver Machine. It was released in 1972. In the charts, the work won the third place. As a result, he decided to create his own group. First he wanted to call her Bastard, which can be translated as "bastard". However, the manager dissuaded the musician, noting that the team with this name is unlikely to be called in Top of the Pops.

Then our hero chose the option Motörhead, based on the name of the last song he composed for Hawkwind. In slang, this term means "biker", in another version - amphetamines. For greater aesthetics, the musician decided to write the word through "o", adding the letter to the umlaut. Our hero radically changed the style of music. With this team, the guitarist has achieved worldwide recognition. It turned into one of the symbols of hard rock.

The band achieved the greatest popularity in the 1980s, when the Ace of Spades received the golden status and took the fourth place in the British charts. In addition, No Sleep 'til Hammersmith's live album took first place only five days after the release. Death

In 2015, December 28, Lemmy Kilmister passed away. His funeral took place soon after the tragic event. Death overtook the musician in his own house in Los Angeles for a video game. He was 70 years old. The cause of his departure was an aggressive form of cancer. She was diagnosed by the musician just 2 days before her death. Later it turned out that it was prostate cancer.

A day after the death of our hero, drummer Mickey Dee reported the breakup of Motörhead. He noted that the collective's story ended, as Lemmy was his essence.
