Joanna Khmelevskaya. Biography in novels

Joanna Khmelevskaya is widely known in the post-Soviet space, since it was she who opened the notion of "ironic detective" to readers of that time. Her heroine has always found herself in such incredible rework that readers could breath away from her irrepressible energy and ability to get out of them without risk to health. Criminals discovered crimes and magnificent humor made Pani Khmelevskaya's novels long-awaited and beloved.

Childhood writer

Many facts from the life of the main character are connected not only with the writer herself, but also with the people around her and the places she visited. This gives the novels an unusual plausibility and causes genuine feelings for the life of John.

Joanna Chmielewska, whose biography begins April 2, 1932 in Warsaw, with a great sense of humor and love talks about her noble birth in the novel "First Youth". One of her novels (The Ancestral Wells, 1979) is directly related to the family archive, which is difficult to understand due to the huge number of family ties. The great-grandmother of the writer had 14 children, of whom 9 survived and continued the noble family. In the novel "Wells of the Ancestors", almost everything is true, except for a huge inheritance, as John Khmelevskaya herself admits.

The writer's childhood was supervised by four women: mother, grandmother and two aunts - Teresa and Lyutsiny. Because of the war that began in 1939, John received education at home, and Aunt Lyutsina, a journalist and a source of many useful knowledge, dealt with her.

The beginning of a literary career

In 1943, John was sent to a monastic boarding school, and after graduating from high school she entered the Architectural Academy, which she successfully graduated from. Thanks to her sanity and sense of humor, Joanna Chmielewska came to the conclusion that architecture is not her path. So it was influenced by an ancient chapel in Orly in France. Seeing this architectural masterpiece, she realized that she could not create anything like this in her whole life, and decided to try herself in literature.

Thanks to the old building, millions of readers got the opportunity to enjoy the writer's work. Joanna Hmelevskaya (photo of the writer behind the game in roulette is placed above) awarded the main character of her novels not only with her own name, but also with character traits and addictions.

So, her love for gambling, horse racing and bridge game formed the basis of many novels, and numerous friends and relatives became prototypes of book characters. The first novel was published in 1964 under the title "Wedge wedge" and immediately made the writer famous.

Personal life

I personally did not hide the private life of John Chmielewska, but she successfully transferred her to the pages of her novels. They feature two sons, a former husband, and lovers, friends and foes - all who surrounded her in real life.

By and large, every novel of the author is a piece of autobiography in a certain age period and in those countries where it actually visited. The detective plot dilutes the real events in the life of Khmelevskaya, which creates an additional intrigue, seasoned with remarkable humor.

For example, a cunning blond named Devil, who drove the main character to white heat, truly existed and lived with John for several years in a civil marriage. She was once in an official marriage, in which she had two sons, the figurants of each author's novel.

All her colleagues at the time of work in the architectural bureau also became "victims" of her literary talent. As the author herself says in her autobiography The First Youth, most of her friends and acquaintances have a good sense of humor in order to forgive her interference in their personal life. Those few acquaintances who were not endowed with the ability to appreciate the humor in her works, again according to the author's confession, are unlikely to give her pleasure by suing her.

The author and her heroine

Khmelevskaya John, whose autobiography is calculated in 7 volumes, in fact, each of his detective novel was able to turn into a story of his life. The writer possessed the qualities she bestowed on the main character: she drove car, smoked, played on the tote, went to races, often traveled, knew several European languages, possessed an irrepressible imagination and unlimited curiosity. The main feature inherent in both the author and John in her novels is the attitude toward oneself, those around and events with a healthy sense of humor and unshakable optimism.

Books by Ioanna Khmelevskaya

In the list of bibliography of Pani Khmelevskaya more than 60 works, including not only detective novels, but also works for children, journalism and biography, deserving no less attention than any fictitious story.

If you determine which detective John is better, it will be difficult to make a choice, since they are all unusually easy to read, sparkle with humor and are swallowed in one go. But not all of her novels are dedicated to John and her adventures.

For example, the main character of the works "The Big Piece of the World", "Blind Happiness" and "The Prose of Life" is the high school student of Tereska Kempinskaya, who gets into terrible and sometimes funny situations with her friend Shpulka. The cycle of books about this amazing girl will appeal to people of any age, since they are full of humor, have a twisted detective storyline and are permeated with romance inherent only in youth.

Biographical books

Since John Chmielewska (reviews of those who read her biographical novels, this is confirmed) was not going to grow old, but she was tired of constant questions of journalists and fans, she decided to personally write her biography.

Most of all, the writer was frightened that someone else would do it for her and confuse everything. Thanks to this fear, a series of autobiographical novels, written in different periods - from 1994 to 2006, appeared. They are distinguished by the same constant sense of humor and a positive attitude to life, like other works of the author.

Ioann Khmelevskaya died on October 7, 2013.
