Is the temperature in the infant a cause for concern?

When the child is too hot forehead and body - parents begin to panic. In order to make the child a little lighter, various antipyretic agents and methods are used, with the help of which it is possible to lower the temperature, up to the call of the doctors of the "first aid". In order not to get lost in the abundance of funds and drugs, parents should know in advance which ones can be used for young children.

Elevated temperature in the infant is the first sign of various diseases, in the absence of other signs of respiratory and viral infections, it is necessary to exclude the defeat of internal organs, overheating, heat strokes and so on. What temperature should alert the parents of a small child? Most often in children under the age of three months, the thermoregulation is not properly developed, as, for example, in adults. As soon as the temperature in the external environment changes, the child's organism reacts accordingly. It is for this reason that young children are very quickly overheated and supercooled. If the overheating occurs very quickly, the parents of the baby will be able to prevent hypothermia immediately, because when the child is cold, he begins to cry, trying to keep warm. Elevated temperature in the infant does not always indicate the presence of the disease, most often the temperature rises with prolonged crying, or when mom or dad too wrap up her baby.

The normal temperature in the infant varies from 36.4 to 37.3 degrees in the armpit. You can not measure temperature or trust measurements at the following times:

  • During defecation;
  • During active games;
  • When the child sucks the breast;
  • Immediately after feeding or during it;
  • After a walk;
  • After bathing;
  • If the baby is crying heavily and the heat is dressed.

The temperature of the infant should be measured at rest, best during sleep. This result will be most informative. What should be done if the temperature of the infant is 38 degrees? First you need to determine the cause of the temperature increase. There may be several, for example:

  1. A child cries for a long time or is overexcited.
  2. At the age of up to one month, intestinal colic may become the cause of fever .
  3. Overheating of the body.
  4. Teething or respond to vaccination.
  5. Allergic reaction.

Usually, if all of the above signs are not observed, then it can be considered that the fever in the infant is a fever, that is, a protective reaction of the body to any disease or damage. Such a fever, as a rule, is of two types, namely:

  • "White" fever - the baby is sluggish, the skin is pale, the child is capricious, the hands and feet are cold. This temperature must be knocked down immediately;
  • "Pink" - this is when the baby is quite cheerful and cheerful, the skin is pink. This temperature does not require an emergency reduction, as the body needs in order to activate the defenses of the body.

In addition, parents should remember that the temperature should always be lost in babies under the age of three months and at its increase over 38 degrees. And also in children who are prone to convulsions or who already had them in the anamnesis. If the baby is hard to tolerate the temperature, he has severe shortness of breath, there is vomiting or diarrhea, shortness of breath and the baby does not drink much - the temperature is knocked down, and the child is given water by drinking.

The temperature in infants is reduced with the help of antipyretic drugs based on paracetamol, ibuprofen and combinations of these drugs. Preparations containing analgin are used only by the ambulance brigade in the form of an antipyretic injection. Nyz and its derivatives, for example, drugs such as Nimegesic and Nimesil, are not allowed in children under the age of twelve years, as well as aspirin, these drugs can cause hepatic insufficiency. Wiping with water can not be used with "white fever", and wiping with alcohol and vinegar is generally prohibited in order to avoid intoxication of the body! Watch your baby's temperature and try to keep the temperature in the room where he is, and then you do not have to wonder why your child has fever.
