Irifrin - eye drops

"Irifrin" - eye drops, they are a clear, colorless or light-yellow solution. This drug has a pronounced alpha-adrenergic activity. "Irifrin" eye drops do not have a noticeable stimulating effect on the human central nervous system. This drug is applied topically, it causes pupil dilatation, improved outflow of intraocular fluid and narrowing of conjunctival vessels .

"Irifrin" - instructions for use

This drug is based on phenylephrine, which stimulates postsynaptic alpha-adrenoreceptors and has a weak effect on the beta-adrenoreceptors of the heart. "Irifrin" eye drops have a vasoconstrictive effect, which is similar to that of norepinephrine. After applying the drug, the pupil dilates. Peak concentrations of phenylephrine in the eye tissue occurs after 10-20 minutes

It is recommended to apply "Irifrin" eye drops in the following cases:

- with iridocyclitis, to reduce exudation from the iris, as well as to prevent the appearance of posterior synechia;

- for pupil dilatation in cases of necessity of its diagnosis, so that it was possible to check the condition of the back of the eye;

- for the purpose of performing a provocative test for those patients who have a narrow profile of the anterior chamber angle or suspicion of occlusive glaucoma;

- for differential diagnosis of deep and superficial injection of the eyeball ;

- to expand the pupil, during pre-treatment;

- for vitreoretinal surgery, for the purpose of pupil dilatation, as well as for performing operations with a laser on the fundus ;

- the treatment complex in the presence of glaucoma-cyclical crises;

- during the manifestation of a spasm of accommodation;

- for the treatment of the syndrome of the so-called "red eye", while the use of this drug helps to reduce the irritation of the membranes of the eye and hyperemia.

"Irifrin", drops for eyes - contraindications

This drug can not be used if the patient has the following diseases:

- the presence of allergic reactions to the components that make up this medicine;

- the patient has a closed-angle or narrow-angle glaucoma;

- Drug use is not recommended for elderly people who have serious cardiovascular or cerebrovascular system disorders;

- You can not use the drug for additional dilatation of the pupil during surgical operations in those patients who have violations of the integrity of the eyeball or tearing disorders;

- use of 10% solution of this drug is contraindicated in children under 12 years of age who have an aneurysm of the arteries;

- 2.5% solution of premature infants is not allowed;

- also the use of the drug is contraindicated in the presence of hyperthyroidism, hepatic porphyria, congenital deficiency of glucose-6-phosphate dehydrogenase.

With special care, it is necessary to use this drug to people with diabetes, elderly people. It is not necessary to take "Irifrin" together with MAO inhibitors, such use is possible after 21 days from the moment of stopping their intake.

Do not exceed the recommended dose for people who have injuries and diseases of the eye or its appendages. Also, the drug is not taken in the post-operative period or in the presence of reduced tear production.

Mode of application

To create mydriasis, it is enough to introduce one drop of 2.5% "Irifrin" into the conjunctival sac. The maximum effect is observed after 15-30 minutes and lasts up to three hours. If 2.5% solution is not enough, then for children over 12 years old, as well as for adult patients, it is possible to apply 10% solution in the same doses.
