This pathology refers to dementia, the competent name of which is oligophrenia. Imbeciles are people who suffer from an average degree of this disease. This term is translated from Latin as "weak" or "weak." The condition of the patient is characterized by the fact that it lags behind not only in the mental, but also in the physical development. Their dementia lies in primitive thinking, a small vocabulary limited to a few phrases or words. Nevertheless, imbeciles understand the meaning of the words addressed to them and are amenable to learning. The memory and attention of such patients at a low level, so it is not meaningful to overload them. Patients recognize their loved ones and understand whether they praise them or, on the contrary, abuse them. Oligophrenia: causes of the disease

Dementia can be innate and acquired throughout life. Most often oligophrenia appears in the womb or in early childhood. There are a number of factors that influence the development of this pathology. Common causes of dementia are genetic and chromosomal defects, which originate even early in pregnancy mothers (Down syndrome, Edwards syndrome ). In addition, the factors influencing the embryogenesis of the child are hemolytic disease of the fetus, viral and bacterial infections of the woman. An important reason for the development of violations can be bad habits, which the mother did not refuse during pregnancy. Another group of factors are the birth trauma of the baby, prolonged exposure without oxygen. In childhood, the causes of dementia can be brain diseases, bacterial and viral meningitis in the severe stage, encephalitis, etc.

Degeneracy is an easy degree of oligophrenia, in which the patients are sufficiently independent, they understand the speech addressed to them, they are able to respond to simple questions. The coefficient of intellectual development of such patients is 50-70%.

Oligophrenia in the degree of imbecility is regarded as an average state. The intellectual coefficient of patients is 20-50%. Imbeciles are people who are able to understand the simplest appeal to them, serve themselves, and also show their emotions.

A severe degree of oligophrenia is idiocy (an intelligence factor of less than 20%). These patients require constant care, as they are unable to independently exist. Diagnosis of dementia

Oligophrenia, associated with genetic or embryonic causes, can be seen even during pregnancy. For this purpose, women are given special screening to identify changes in the level of hormones responsible for the mental state of the fetus. Such abnormalities as macro- and microcephaly are already visible on ultrasound. If during pregnancy it was not possible to establish the presence of pathology, then it will be diagnosed in the first years of the child's life. Such children are characterized by a significant backlog of physical and mental development, the inability to hold their head on their own for several months. Is it possible to treat oligophrenia?

Now dementia is not treated. Children who were exposed to this diagnosis have a disability group.
