How to pickle mackerel at home

Marinating mackerel is not as difficult as it seems at first glance. After all, you just need to buy fresh fat fish and a few fragrant spices for this. It is worth mentioning that the dish of its own preparation is much more delicious and useful than the store analog, where very often use slightly spoiled products.

How to pickle mackerel at home

Necessary ingredients:

  • Bulbs of sweet varieties (violet) - 2 pcs .;
  • Mackerel fatty fresh (can and freshly frozen) - 2-3 pcs. (Depending on the number of family members);
  • Salt iodized small - 2 tbsp. L .;
  • Vinegar 6% - 2 tbsp. L .;
  • Olive oil - 30-35 ml;
  • Sand sugar - a little;
  • Spices designed specifically for fish - according to desire and taste;
  • Purified drinking water - ½ liter;
  • Leaves of laurel - 3-4 pcs.

Processing of fish product

Before pickling mackerel, it must be purchased in fresh or frozen form. After this, the fish should be thawed slightly (if necessary), and then thoroughly cleaned of all viscera, fins, tail and head. Next, the processed and thoroughly washed product should be chopped into steak pieces not more than 2.5 cm thick and put them in deep enameled dishes.

The process of preparation of marinade

Marinate mackerel is recommended with the usual drinking water in the amount of 0.5 liters and 2 large spoons of iodized salt. Both these products should be combined in one container and thoroughly mixed so that the loose spice completely melts. If desired, in a marinade you can add other seasonings intended for fish.

Pickling process

Ready salted liquid must be poured into enameled dishes, which were previously laid out pieces of mackerel. After that, the fish should be well mixed with hands, adding to it 3-4 leaves of laurel. Also on top of the product it is recommended to place a plate on which it is necessary to put any load. In this position the fish should be marinated within a day or a half or two days (not less).

The process of preparing a filling for fish

Quickly marinated mackerel is much more delicious and aromatic, if you additionally make a special dressing. To do this, take the sweet purple bulbs, peel them from the husk, and then cut into thick rings and lay them in a ceramic container. Next, mix olive oil and vinegar, adding a little sugar, iodized salt and any seasonings. After that, the cooked pickled fish (without the liquid) should be put on the onion, and pour it over completely with an oil dressing. Gently stirring the fragrant product with a spoon, it can be safely served for dinner.

Correct feed to the table

Marinated mackerel, the photo of which is presented above, is served for dinner in a cooled form together with a round boiled or baked potato. Also to such a fragrant snack you need to serve fresh wheat cake, greens (dill, parsley) and arrows leeks.
