One of the oldest operating systems is Win XP. Its popularity is due to the simple interface and easy control of various parameters of the computer through the remote control.

So, how do I open the XP Device Manager? The easiest way, which, incidentally, is suitable for "Windows 7.8", is to use the command line. Press the Win + R key combination or select the "Run" option in the "Start" menu. In the appeared window, enter devmgmt.msc and click "OK".

There is another way that allows you to get to Win Win XP. On the desktop, you should have the "My Computer" icon. Click on the PCM and select the "Properties" option from the drop-down menu. A window will appear where you need to open the "Hardware" section, and then go to "Device Manager".

Note: The Win button is located in the lower-left area of the keyboard (between fn and alt). It shows the "Windows" logo.

How to open the Device Manager on Windows 7?

Open the remote control on the Win 7 operating system is no less easy. There are also several ways:

  2. Call up the Start menu by clicking on the appropriate button. Enter the "Control Panel". Set small icons, find and go to the manager section.
  3. In the "Start" menu there is a search string where you need to enter the word "dispatcher". Choose the option you want and click LMB.

Remote control for Windows 8

Some users do not know how to open Device Manager on "Windows 8", because this operating system appeared relatively recently. In fact, getting into the DM is very easy.

You can use the command line and enter the words mentioned above. Also in the case of this OS, the first method of the previous subsection (system properties) is suitable.

You can open the DM in two clicks. To do this, click on the PCM button on the "Start" button and select the "Device Manager" option in the drop-down menu.

So, you learned how to open the Device Manager on multiple operating systems. It remains only to get acquainted with its capabilities.

What actions can be taken in the DM?

In the dispatcher you can see what equipment is installed. Opening a section, for example, "Monitors", you will see the name of the device. Do you want to get more information about it? Then click on it PCM and select "Properties".

Here you can see disconnected devices or those that have some problems. Depending on the situation, there will be an alerting icon next to them (a question mark, a cross).

If you need to update the driver or get information about it, click on the PCM on the device and in the drop-down menu go to "Properties". A window opens where you need to select the "Driver" section.

In the remote, you can turn off the equipment. In this case, you will not be able to deactivate the processor and some other devices, since there will be no corresponding button.

To see which device conflicts with the equipment, you can go to Properties, the Resources section.

Errors in Device Manager

Almost all errors in the remote control have their own code. To fix the problem, you need to know at least about the most common codes. Here are just a few of them:

- "Code 1" signals that, possibly, there are no drivers installed for the equipment, or they are not configured.

- "Code 14" means that for proper operation of the equipment, it is necessary to restart the OS.

- "Code 31" indicates unstable operation of the device. The reason is the driver. Most likely, you will need to download new software.

Conclusion

Now you know how to open the Device Manager, so you can independently monitor the operation of hardware and drivers. By the way, some devices on laptops are recommended to be disconnected, so that the battery holds the charge longer.
