What is the operating system Meego and how to download it?

The operating system MeeGo is an open source project developed by the joint efforts of Intel and Nokia for laptop users and netbooks. OS MeeGo is a combined project Moblin from Intel and Maemo from Nokia. MeeGo provides enhanced support for touch commands, which makes it a full platform for netbooks and tablet computers, as well as for application development. MeeGo is an easy, updated and fast operating system.

The operating system MeeGo has the following features:

  • Fully flexible and simple interface design.
  • Easy to use operating system.
  • An open source project and support for the Linux Foundation Forum.
  • Compatible with laptops, tablet PCs and portable devices.
  • Built-in applications required for work - the browser, media players and so on.

In order for the MeeGo operating system to be installed on your device, you can perform two options:

  • Install the OS from the disk.
  • Install from a USB flash drive.

It is recommended that you select the second path to avoid disruption to the installation disk. The following is an example of installing from USB.

How does the MeeGo installation work ?

Download the MeeGo OS image from the official site and write it to the USB drive. Be sure to check the memory capacity of the flash drive in advance (it should be much larger than the MeeGo image file).

Now, to write the image file to USB, you will need special software, as normal copying to a USB drive does not work.

If you are a Windows user, you need a software called Win32DiskImager.

Installation instructions for Windows users

1. Download Win32DiskImager and extract the ZIP to the appropriate folder.

2. Download Win32DiskImager.exe from the folder. Select the MeeGo (. IMG) image from the file that you downloaded. Select a letter for your USB drive (for example, drive F).

3. Click on the button for recording and select "Save image to USB".

4. As soon as the progress of the recording process is completed, proceed to the next step.

Installation Instructions for Linux MeeGo Users

With Image Writer, run a Python script that will determine your USB drive and then perform an image capture on it. The advantage of using an image recording is that there is no risk of accidentally overwriting the information on your system hard disk. Run the following command to write the images of the file one by one.

# CDs

# CHMOD + x. / Image Writer

#. / Image Writer

Use the 'DD' command to exit the terminal.

Instructions for Mac OS X users

1. Open the terminal (Applications -> Utilities -> Terminal).

2. Sort the DiskUtil list by type to see the entire list of devices.

3. Insert USB and enter the following command unmountDisk / dev / diskN (the value of N should be replaced by the number of the USB drive).

4. Then enter the udo dd command if = / path / to / downloaded.img of = / dev / diskN bs = 1m (path should be replaced by the downloaded image).

5. Then type diskutil eject / dev / diskN (N is the number of the USB drive).

6. Run the image on your netbook.

7. Insert the USB drive into your netbook and restart the computer. Verify that the boot order is configured so that the USB drive is started first. Now the operating system MeeGo will start to boot automatically . From the first seconds you will be able to make sure that the download occurs in a matter of seconds, and the interface of the system is extremely easy and understandable to every user. In addition, the OS has built-in programs necessary for the full use of the netbook.
