How to make a gate with your own hands?

If you are thinking about how to make a wicket in your dacha, then first of all you should determine the type of the future product. It is also necessary to pay attention to the fact that the chosen model as best as possible approached the general style of registration of the site and was made of the same material as the fence itself.

Also, you should determine in advance what requirements you are applying to using the wicket, except for its direct purpose, and to think about how much you are willing to spend on its erection. For example, wrought iron wickets look very effective and exquisite and can decorate any fence, but their cost is high enough, so not everyone can afford such a model.

The most optimal solution is an ordinary wooden gate. Such products are quite durable and reliably hide your territory from the curious looks of passers-by. Let's look at how to make a wicket of wood yourself and at no particular cost.

It is best to use hardwood for making such elements. As supports for fastening the gate you need to make poles of aerated concrete - these products are easy to find in construction shops and they are inexpensive. First you need to make two sidewalls, on which the frame of the gate will be fixed (photo of the step-by-step master classes of similar works can be seen on the building portals). These parts are made of boards. After the sidewalls are cut and processed, their dimensions must be carefully aligned and adjusted if necessary. Now they can be fastened to the support poles with the help of self-tapping screws.

Before you make a wicket, you need to collect a frame for it. It is made of four pre-painted boards. The corners of the frame are further strengthened with metal strips, which are fastened with screws. If you want your design to be more rigid, you can use special brass plate plates when assembling. Then loops for a future product are installed on a pre-prepared support plate.

Once you are convinced that the frame structure easily enters the opening, you need to make a special bump, which will give the product additional strength. The swivel should be secured to the base of the frame using metal plates.

Then you must install the finished frame on the hinges and begin the process of skinning the product. Each board used to finish the wicket should be firmly secured to at least two bolts. It should be taken into account that the corner boards require even more reliable fastening. The last thing you need to install a handle and a latch. In order for your wicket to become more attractive, you can trim the upper part of the boards figuratively. This is done with a jigsaw.

We considered the simplest way of how to make a wicket from a tree. With certain skills and fantasy, on its basis you can make absolutely stunning wooden products that will become a real decoration for your dacha.
