How to clean gold at home

Virtually all jewelry made of gold are made with alloys of various metals, on which the strength of future jewelry depends. But, probably, many have already noticed that when the jewelry product interacts with air or water, metals gradually oxidize, and for this reason stains are formed on jewelry.

Currently, there are a number of affordable and simple ways with which you can learn how to clean gold at home.

First of all, remember that you should not do homework with gold products, dressed in your hand, especially such procedures as cleaning potatoes, vegetables, or cleaning furniture with preparations containing abrasive substances.

If your gold product began to acquire a dull tint, then clean it with ethyl alcohol, previously applied to a rag.

It happens that over time the pollution on the jewelry became strong, then it can be removed by soaking your product in ammonia. It is quite easy to prepare a solution. To do this, take five drops of ammonia per glass of water, put your product in the glass for an hour.

If the thing is not soiled, then a solution consisting of a detergent can be prepared. This solution is made from a tablespoon of detergent dissolved in a single glass of water, and then the product is placed in it.

Also for jewelry, which have contaminated spots, you can prepare a solution consisting of 200 milliliters of water, and one ampoule of ammonia. The gold product should be kept in the solution for about five minutes, then shake the container well, take it out and rinse it in running water.

Gold products with stones can be cleaned by spreading a tablespoon of salt for one liter of hot water. The bottom of a small container or basin is covered with foil, lay gold on the foil and pour the solution over your product so that it covers the stone, and leave the jewelry for 12 hours. Under the influence of chemical reactions, all contaminants will be removed during this time.

Another way: in 50 milliliters of water, dissolve two and a half tablespoons of salt, and in the resulting solution leave your product for 8 hours. Then rinse it.

Do not forget that taking care of gold products is quite simple. As soon as your product fades, the best way to clean it is to place it in a container with detergent or ammonia, and pour everything, preferably, with hot water. Then drain and rinse your product.

Today, some modern specialized literary publications have numerous reference sections, which describe other ways with which you can learn how to clean gold at home.

For example, in these books you can also find such ways: a half-pack of citric acid can be dissolved in one glass of warm water and put your ornament in this container. After two to four minutes, the jewelery can be removed and washed.

Also, for cleaning gold ornaments with stones, you can prepare a cleaning paste with equal proportions of Vaseline, soap shavings, powder, chalk and water. With the resulting tool, treat your jewelry with a stone and wipe it with ethyl alcohol, and at the end with a soft cloth. Remember that when cleaning jewelery with stones, it is strictly forbidden to use such sharp objects as toothpicks or sticks. It is best to wipe the product with a stone with a soft flannel cloth.
