What is the autorun module?

This is a small device that can be supplied both separately and as part of the alarm kit. But in any case, the module will work from the alarm control unit, so it is not worthwhile to purchase it separately without a security system. What is auto start on a car from a technical point of view? The module is an electrical relay that is built into the on-board network and further simulates the function of the ignition key. To understand the essence of this work, it is worth returning to the basic concept of autorun. It is designed for premature activation of the heating system and motor for heating purposes. The engine and the interior are warmed up. To realize this function before the moment of direct use of the machine, the relay is used, which automatically switches on the engine with warm-up in automatic mode.

How to install autorun?

The minimum set of autorun supplies includes a relay, heat shrink tubes, control cable, power wiring and accessories for fixing. For stable operation of the module, a free channel is required on the signaling unit - for example, a line for opening the trunk can be used. But since almost all modern signaling kits have several free connection paths, there will not be any problems in this part. The connection scheme can be individual - it is attached with the autorun kit. To put the module on a typical universal scheme it is possible through the steering compartment. For connection, a module board is used, to which terminal blocks are connected from the starter and ignition. Usually screw contacts are used to connect to the 12 V power circuit. Most often you have to deal with green, red and black wires - you'll still have to find out about their correspondence to the purpose from the instructions to the specific model. After connection, the contours are fixed and compressed using the attached snap-in.

Connecting the neutral sensor

This is an additional control function for the transmission, which will not be superfluous for those who want to increase the level of protection of the car. In this case, the module will have a special channel with a sensor to monitor the handle of the gearbox. Exit from the unit with the lever will work from the minus of the metal body. At the time of the manipulation with it, there is a shortage and the engine starts. The neodymium magnet must be purchased separately from the neutral control sensor. Its presence next optimizes the electrical circuit. Also, experts recommend connecting a monitoring line to the sensor from the module, from which autorun will work. To put devices with the correct electrotechnical scheme it is possible only at the removed transfer, that is with a neutral - this moment too should be considered. The lack of a complete set of transducer sensors does not mean that it is impossible to realize such a function. There are many universal neutral sensors on the market, which are organically integrated into standard autorun schemes.

Setting the parameters of work

Control will be carried out mainly through the alarm key, so remote access functions must be programmed before using the module. To begin with, the possible modes of operation of the engine are set, as well as the number of revolutions that will be triggered after the tachometric signal. Next, the optimum time interval of the starter operation is set, during which the engine is activated. In the case of a diesel engine, it may be necessary to set a separate time between the activation of the ignition and the start of the starter. In daily operation, the engine startup module is programmed and by parameters such as the warm-up time, the number of starts, the time to turn off the timer, the redundancy modes, and so on.

Operation of the system

As already mentioned, the system will need to be controlled through a key chain, so together with the settings, the functions corresponding to one or another button of the remote control are set. The working model can be the following: the user performs a remote start via the timer, then the engine starts and the car warms up at the appointed time. Each operation will be performed in accordance with the assigned parameters, but several operating modes of the module with seasonal adjustment can be used.

There is one nuance of the use of such devices, related to the specifics of the immobilizer. This component is included in the security complex and inherently must block the autorun. To bypass the immobilizer can be using a chip-transponder, transmitting the RF signal. A key with the code activating the immobilizer is integrated into the unit of this device. That is, at the time of sending the autostart signal, the command to the transponder, which excludes the blocking of the motor start-up, is also duplicated.

The technique of integration of autorun modules into the signaling complex is quite simple and can be realized by an ordinary motorist. If you have the skills of electrical engineering, you can also organize a complex system, which will include additional functions for working with mechanical interlocks, the same neutral sensor, etc. But it is important to take into account the dangers inherent in the autorun engine module if it is misused. These include excessive fuel consumption and additional load on the battery pack - again, if it is initially incorrect to calculate the warm-up and shutdown time of the module. But experts consider the most serious disadvantage of such systems to be the increased risks of hijacking. This is due to the disabling of the immobilizer, and to the activity of the engine, and this already reduces the degree of protection of the machine operating in the absence of the owner.
