How is the reinforcement of the foundation carried out?

Where does the construction of a dwelling house or an office building start? Of course with the project, on the basis of which the construction of the new building will begin. It contains all the information about the shape of the walls and the appearance of the entire building under construction, as well as the materials that will need to be used in its construction. However, the foundation is undoubtedly the main link of the object under construction, since this structural element allows transferring the load to the foundation soils from the overlying elements of the building. His bookmark is made at the very beginning of the construction of the house. Its durability depends on the durability of the house. If cracks or cracks form in it, the walls may become deformed, tilt or collapse. This will affect not only the appearance of the dwelling, but also its performance characteristics. Nobody will live in such a house.

To increase the service life of the building, it is necessary to reinforce the foundation. This will not only increase the resistance of the latter to loads, but will also increase the resistance to negative temperature.

Like any other business, reinforcement of the foundation must be carried out in compliance with certain requirements and rules. To begin with, you need to choose the right materials that will be used in the course of construction work. The most common for these purposes is the following metal rolling:

  • wire;
  • Rods;
  • The channel;
  • Corners.

Of the wire, most often a special mesh is made, which performs the function of the foundation skeleton. When building suburban, low-rise buildings, rods up to 4 cm in diameter are most often used, the length of which does not exceed 6 m. Thicker rods are used less often. Try not to buy scrap metal. Its use is permissible only when building a bath or a terrace, where the loads are minimal.

The second, not less important, aspect, allowing to make the reinforcement of the foundation qualitatively, is the way of laying reinforcing material. More often, these construction works begin with the manufacture of a frame of rods, the distance between which, both in the vertical and horizontal plane, should not exceed 1.5 m. After that, 3-4 rods fit into each row. It should be noted that between the ground and the rods the distance should be at least 10 cm. This space can be filled with bricks or stones. Otherwise, in a very short time the metal will begin to corrode and collapse. It is also necessary to maintain the distance between the rods themselves. It should not exceed 20 cm. Overlapping of rods must be ensured at a level of 60 cm. To achieve the greatest reinforcing effect, a special reinforcing mesh can be placed under and on the formed frame of rods and fixed by welding.

Reinforcement of the monolithic foundation is carried out in much the same way as described above, however, for its strengthening, twigs of variable cross-section with a diameter of 12 mm are used. In addition, the rods are located at a distance of about 10 cm both from the bottom of the earth, and from the sides and top.

Reinforcement of the columnar foundation is made with the help of pipes, the internal cavities of which are filled with a concrete mixture. To strengthen the foundation, metal or asbestos pipes with a diameter of 15-20 cm are best suited. They are placed at a distance of 1.5 to 2.5 m, installing in wells with a diameter of 20-25 cm, drilled to a depth corresponding to the lower boundary of soil freezing .

Thus, reinforcement of the foundation must necessarily be carried out when erecting any building object, as it allows to increase the service life of the erected building. Well, but as it is better to do, you now know.
