To horticulturists on a note: than a cherry differs from a sweet cherry

Cherry and cherry. It would seem, what kind of differences can there be between them? Both that and another - berries tasty and useful, are equally eaten both in fresh, and in the canned kind. And canned by and large, also about the same: in the form of compotes, jams, jams. But still there is a difference between the trees and between the berries.

General properties and qualities

Before you determine what the cherry is different from the sweet cherry, find that it brings them closer. To begin with, in the Russian language, initially both kinds of trees were called one word - "cherry". The second name of the sweet cherry is "bird cherry". It is under this name that it appears in scientific botanical literature. In fact, cherry is the very first, the oldest form of cherries, which people began to eat. Of course, breeders have tried to refine the wild species of trees, bringing out a variety of varieties, and now no one will confuse one tree with another. And yet they bloom almost simultaneously, the aroma is similar, the forms of flowers and the color are the same, the fruits are a berry-drupe, fleshy and very juicy. The shape and color of leaves are similar. The color of the bark of many varieties is the same. Enumerations on this do not end, but we will return to the topic of our article, namely, how the cherry differs from cherries.

Differences

Differences, of course, more. Let's look into them.

  • To begin with, the cherry tree is a more gentle tree, requiring special climatic conditions. It grows mainly in the southern regions, where mild winters, early spring and long warm autumn. Frost tolerates this kind of badly, and if they "roll off" for 15-18 degrees, then the trees simply freeze and die. They do not like drafts, either. Cherry is more resistant to temperature changes and well tolerates more severe growth conditions.
  • The cherry has a round crown, the cherry has a sharp or conical appearance. The cherry is stretched up to 30 meters high, the cherry is much lower. Cherry leaves with silvery tint, rather soft. In cherries they are of lesser magnitude, more dense, leathery, dark green. They are often used as spices in marinades due to a special, very pleasant aroma and tannins, which give vegetables a saline with a saline. One more thing than cherry is different from cherries - the first leaves on the cuttings grow straight, the second - down. Cherries usually have berries singly or in pairs, rarely a triplet. In the sweet cherry they grow with a whole brush.
  • Well, finally, the fruits. Sweet cherry can be light yellow, amber, yellow-pink, pink, orange, red, maroon, almost black. Contains many mineral salts and almost no acid, especially light varieties. That is why when preserving in cans with cherries it is necessary to report citric acid, otherwise they start fermentation processes, mold is formed, and the conservation explodes. The taste is soft, gentle, refreshing, pleasant. In this respect, how does cherry differ from cherries? It can be either acidic (semi-cultivated), or saturated with sweet and sour, sharp taste (whip). Color - scarlet, red, maroon, almost brown. Contains a huge amount of useful substances: vitamin C, pectin, magnesium, potassium, calcium, etc. Cherry juice is prescribed for seriously ill and weakened people, including very tiny children, as prevention and control of rickets, tuberculosis, and many other serious diseases. The berry works strengtheningly on the immune system, heals the human body.

Cherry Cherry, or 2 in 1

While cultivating new varieties of trees, breeders have long sought to create a hybrid of cherries and cherries so that the resulting species combines the best qualities of both fruit trees. Such hybrids are called ducks. Their berries are larger than that of "thoroughbred" cherries, retain their astringency, sourness, but softer, sweet. The shape and color of the leaves is also somewhat different than that of each variety separately. The sour cherry sour cherry is usually made in those parts where the first can not be diluted in the usual way. The operation is performed either in autumn, when the leaves have fallen, or in early spring. Ducks get accustomed quite hard, not all bear fruits. However, in those trees on which the receiving branches nevertheless coalesce with the trunk, the fruitfulness increases, and the products are of high quality.

Try and you on your site to dilute not only cherries with cherries separately, but also their derivatives. Good luck to you!
