How does the obsession manifest itself?

Obsessive conditions, the symptoms of which will be described in our article, are absurd or inadequate thoughts, motivations or subjective fears that appear against the will of the patient and regardless of the fact that most of the people affected by this syndrome clearly understand their morbid nature and try in every possible way Them to get rid of.

The neurosis of obsessive thoughts

A similar pathology manifests itself in completely absurd, but ineradicable reflections: why, for example, does a cat have strips, or how many years has a passerby met it. These thoughts are perceived by the patients themselves as unnecessary, but they can not get rid of them.

Obsessive account

This compulsive state is manifested by an irresistible desire to consider everything that comes to our eyes: poles at the road, pebbles underfoot, letters on the billboard , etc. And sometimes the actions become more complicated: there is a need to add numbers in the phone number, the oncoming car or finding out the total number of letters in the word at the time of reading, etc.

Obsession

As a rule, this phenomenon is accompanied by a constant alarm about whether this or that is done. For example, a completely exhausting doubt, whether the door is locked or the iron is turned off, does not give rest, forcing a person to return home again and again. And although the patient will repeatedly check all the appliances and the door, leaving the apartment, but after a couple of minutes it will be painful to think and doubt again.

Phobias

Obsessive state is manifested in various inexplicable logical fears. This is the fear of spiders, heights, open spaces, enclosed spaces, etc. Often they are added and fear of doing something criminal, unlawful (kill the spouse, loudly scream where they observe silence, or take someone else's thing).

The neurosis of compulsive drives

This is a particularly pronounced pathological desire. The patient can barely restrain himself from the urge to jump out of the moving car, pinch the person ahead or pull the girl's hair, etc.

True, these desires are not usually activated, but they give a lot of torment to a person who has such an obsession.

Contrast obsessions

These deviations are manifested, as a rule, in relation to the one who is particularly fond of the sick: for example, a son adoring his mother will be incoherently reflecting on how unclean it is, although she knows for certain that this is not so. A husband who loves his wife will think about how he will stab it with a knife.

As well as compulsive drives, this state does not go into action, but exhausts the patient who is aware of the absurdity of such thoughts.

Rituals

To ease the state of anxiety and a kind of "protection" from constant stress, a patient with a compulsive disorder syndrome creates a series of "rituals" that are bound to help him in this. For example, to get rid of thoughts about a TV that has not been turned off, such a person will touch the wall ten times next to the outlet or, at fear of some illness, wash his hands, accompanying it with a loud bill, and if he does, he will start all over again.

Obsessive-compulsive disorder syndrome: treatment

The syndrome under discussion is quite difficult to treat. It includes both medication therapy and psychological influence on the patient's consciousness. The main thing at the same time is to create an environment of trust and cooperation with the patient, to assist him in social adaptation.
