Aquarium fish of the thornsia is derived from the family of haracin. Its habitat in the wild is South America, more precisely, the rivers Rio Negro and Paraguay. Extremely unpretentious in the habitat and - unlike their wild relatives - peace-loving, the aquarium fish of the turnis enjoys well-deserved love among the admirers of the inhabitants of the underwater kingdom. Because of its low requirements, it is ideal for beginning aquarists for breeding.

Growth of the thorns in length to five centimeters. Have a high, as if squeezed from the sides of the body, whose shape somewhat resembles a diamond. The back of the fish has a green-olive color. On the shiny silvery scales of the body there are three vertical bands of black color, the first of which, as it were, cuts the fisheye in half. The aquarium fish of the thornsia also has a "special sign." Its anal fin has the shape of a skirt. For this, the breeders often call Ternesia a fashionista.

Recently there was a peculiar tendency - to carry out artificial staining of albino fish. With the help of various dyes they are given bright shades, as a result of which a new species appeared - the aquarium fish of the "caramel" thornece. True, this sign is not inherited, moreover, almost 90% of the colored individuals acquire their natural color after a time.

What are the conditions that are really optimal for the content of the thornsia? Since this fish is schooly, for 8-10 individuals a tank of at least 80 liters is required. Terentium likes warm water, so its temperature must be constantly maintained within +26 degrees. If we talk about the level of rigidity, then the optimal indicator is 18 units. Acidity should be maintained within 6-7 pH. Demanding and turn to oxygen, and therefore the tank must be equipped with instruments for artificial aeration of water. The bottom in the aquarium should be sandy, and plants and ornaments should be planted and arranged so that the fish have free space for swimming. The best neighbors of the thorns are catfish, guppies, gourami, pecilia and scalaria.

As for the feeding of fish, the owner of the aquarium will not have problems with this. Despite its predatory nature, Turnsia can perfectly do with dry and high-quality artificial feed. True, this fish will not refuse from bloodworm, tubule, cyclops, both in a living and frozen form.

Reproduction of the progeny of turness is ready from eight months, the average life span (under appropriate conditions) is about four years.
