Herb Hyssop officinalis
In folk medicine for many years, the medicinal herb hyssop is widely used. Mention of her repeatedly found in the Bible. The homeland is considered to be the Mediterranean countries. Another name is blue St. John's wort.
This plant is a semi-shrub and belongs to the family of labial flowers. The stems reach a half-meter in height and branch strongly. The leaves are practically sessile and opposite. Flowering is observed from June to the end of September. Inflorescences can be white, pink, lilac or dark blue, depending on the variety.
How to procure
First of all, it should be noted that the hyssop herb grows on the territory of Russia, the countries of the Mediterranean and Central Asia, preferring well-lit open areas with sufficient drainage of the soil. Nowadays, the plant is increasingly found among the herbs of apothecary vegetable gardens of experienced gardeners and is used as a spice. Has a pleasant aroma, reminiscent of a mixture of sage with ginger, and has a slightly bitter aftertaste.
For medicinal purposes, hyssop herb is also used. It contains about 1% of essential oil, as well as tannins, organic acids (such as oleanolic and ursolic), flavonoids and tannins.
Dosage forms
Herb hyssop medicinal is used to make infusions. To apply the infusion inside, a tablespoon of the dried raw material is poured with hot water (200-250 ml) and insisted on a water bath for half an hour. Then the infusion is filtered and the liquid is brought to the original volume.
Alcohol tincture for rinses is prepared from 20 g of dried hyssop. It is poured with vodka (100-120 ml) and left for one week without access to light. Filter with gauze.
Application in medicine
Many doctors consider this plant irreplaceable in the treatment of conjunctivitis, stomatitis, bruises or wounds, eczema, remembering the antiseptic and bactericidal properties of the herb. Hyssop in the form of a tincture for rinsing is bred in warm water at the rate of a teaspoon per glass.
Since the blue hunters can raise blood pressure, it is used to treat angina pectoris. Applied and with neuroses, anemia, fungal infections and rheumatism.
Infusion of hyssop from belching
For infusion, the herb hyssop (100 g) is filled with Cahors (2 liters) and placed in a shaded place for 10-14 days. The container with contents during this period is periodically mixed or shaken. Then place the mixture on a water bath and cook over low heat for 10-15 minutes.
When the infusion has cooled, it is filtered. Take 50 ml three times a day for about half an hour before meals. The pharynx must be made small, holding the liquid in the mouth.
Contraindications to the use of hyssop
When using the plant, it should be remembered that it refers to the weakly poisonous. If the dosages recommended by the doctor are exceeded, convulsions may occur, it is likely that the blood pressure will drop drastically and, consequently, the heart rate increases.
Strongly can not use blue St. John's wort with increased nervous excitability (for example, with epilepsy), as well as pregnant and lactating women, children under two years of age. Elderly doctors reduce dosage.
Other uses of the plant
